Hrithik visits Salman before his surgery

Hrithik visits Salman before his surgery:
Hrithik Roshan after the skirmish that he had with Salman Khan, decided to bury the hatchet and paid a visit to the ailing superstar at his Bandra residence.

The actor dropped by to wish Salman all the well and hoped for a healthy vigor post the surgery. A source revealed, “Hrithik Roshan was at a Juhu five star to launch the first promo of his upcoming film Agneepath. Right after the event, he went to Salman Khan’s residence, Galaxy Apartments in Bandra. He wanted to meet Salman before he left the country. Hrithik wanted to wish Salman luck with his treatment in the US. The two actors spent over two hours in each other’s company.”

For those in the dark, it may be recalled that Salman and Hrithik had a bitter fight over Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s 2010 film ‘Guzaarish’. Salman had commented on the film, saying, “Koi Kutta bhi nahi gaya dekhne”. Hrithik, the lead actor of the film was deeply hurt by Salman’s remarks and had retorted, “It’s not heroic to laugh or make fun of a filmmaker. In my opinion, a hero never gloats. When you are super successful, it should in fact make you more gracious and loving.”

Upset with Salman’s unsavory comment, filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali too had said, “If such an old and trusted friend can be so insensitive, I don’t want anything to do with the entertainment industry.”

But now it seems they have buried their past differences and are on cordial terms with each other.

Salman Khan who would be treated for an acute neurological condition (trigeminal neuralgia) left for US on Monday. The actor on his way to airport tweeted – “Chalo guys am on my way to fix the short circuit in my nerve. (sic)”

We also wish him a speedy recovery.

Kareena, Preity mend burnt bridges

Kareena, Preity mend burnt bridges:
Having warred for several years, tinsel town beauties Kareena Kapoor and Preity Zinta have finally ironed out their differences and have buried the hatchet.

The chirpy actress who was invited by Salman Khan at the special screening of his latest release ‘Bodyguard’ at YRF Studios was seen showering praises on Bebo and Salman.

Preity complimented both the actors and their film in one of her Tweets. She posted on her Twitter handle, “Just saw BODYGUARD! Salman U n Kareena Rock! Its FAB & the action is AMAZING ! All da best This one is full Paisa Vasool :) .”

Her complimenting Kareena like this shows that she has buried their past differences and has moved on. It may be recalled that during a Diwali party hosted by Akshay Kumar in 2008, Preity was seen giving cold shoulder to Kareena. The rivalry intensified when Preity was chosen for Karan Johar’s ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’, to play a role that was originally offered to Bebo.

In fact, on K Jo’s talk show, both the actresses were caught bad mouthing and hurling insults at each other. Where, Kareena made it clear that she was not too fond of Preity, she also reciprocated with the same vibes saying Kareena only acknowledged her in Karan’s presence.

But now things have taken a turn around and all is well between both of them.

When contacted, Kareena said, “I am really flattered with Preity’s compliment. She is really sweet and very genuine as a person. She always speaks her mind so I know whatever she wrote was heartfelt.

Sonakshi to team up with SRK:
To the world Sonakshi Sinha is Salman’s girl having made her debut in ‘Dabangg’ but now the actress is switching loyalties and will be working with Salman’s arch foe Shahrukh Khan.

Sonakshi will share the screen space with SRK in Abhinav Kashyap’s next directorial venture.

Reports are zooming in from all the quarters that the movie, which will go on floors by the end of the year, will be a love story and will be shot in Australia. A source informed, “Abhinav wants to move away from the rustic action genre of Dabangg to an urban love story in his next.

It is an unusual love story about two people, who meet under extremely trying circumstances. Shah Rukh will play one of his most intensely romantic roles of his career.”

It may be recalled that Salman had some serious issues with Abhinav during and after the making of ‘Dabangg’. Reportedly, Kashyap was not happy with his paycheque and was also seeking creative freedom for ‘Dabangg2’ which he lacked while working on the prequel. Things soon turned ugly and as a result Salman and Abhinav had even called off their association. But Sonakshi is not ruffled about working with her debut film’s director. The media vine has it that she has even given a thumbs up to the project.

Bomber kills 53 at Jamrud mosque

Bomber kills 53 at Jamrud mosque:
KHYBER AGENCY - At least 55 tribesmen including children were killed and more than 108 others got injured in a suicide blast during Friday prayer inside a mosque here at tehsil Jamrud.
Eyewitnesses said that some faithful were offering prayers and some were leaving Madukhel Mosque, situated in Gundai area of tehsil Jamrud, Khyber Agency, when a suicide bomber, who was stated to be in his teen age, blew himself up, killing 55 people and injuring more than 80 others. It was a severe blast as the roof of the mosque caved in. The locals said that mosque was attended by more than 400 believers at Friday prayers. “It was an ear-splitting. We fall on ground because it banged huge”. The intensity of the blast could be imagined from the fact that the mosque hall was covered with human lambs and blood,” said the locals.
They said that windows and doors of the mosque shattered and cracks developed in walls of the mosque. A number of copies of the Holy Quran were also martyred in the blast, they added. “We were offering prayers after Jumma prayer when a 15 to 16-year-old boy, dressed in black, entered the mosque hall and blew himself up,” an eyewitness Sadiq told this correspondent. One of the eyewitnesses said that he was offering prayer in the veranda of the mosque while the suicide bomber was present in fourth row among other worshippers.
Some of the deceased were identified as Kashif, Haji Gulab, Qais, Haji Jahangir, Manzoor, Lachi Gul, Amin, Ikhtiar Shah, Javed Nadeem, Gul Khan, Arbab and Khan Asghar. The locals said that rescue work started too late. It was a huge blast so it is feared that number of casualties may go up, officials in the political administration told TheNation. It was a deadliest bombing, they added. Soon after the explosion, the security forces, personnel of the political administration and locals rushed towards the spot and started relief work, while the forces cordoned off the whole area.
Moving scenes were witnessed at blast site as people were searching their nears and dears. Blood spots on walls, stained floors and scattered dead bodies made the whole scene horrible. Some injured were calling for help. Most of the injured were shifted to Hayatabad Medical Complex and Khyber Teaching Hospital where administrations of these hospitals already declared emergency.
The death toll may rise, as hospital sources said that scores of injured were in critical condition. No one has so far claimed the responsibility of the blast but the locals said that affected tribe Madukhel had recently joined the peace jirga in Tirrah to restrict the activities of Tehrik-e Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and in armed skirmishes three TTP volunteers were killed a few days back. Therefore it could be the revenge act on the part of the TTP, the locals blamed.
Our staff reporter from Peshawar adds: Out of the 108 injured persons of Jamrud bomb blast, 59 injured persons were shifted to Khyber Teaching Hospital Peshawar, 42 injured persons have been admitted in Hayatabad Medical Complex while seven were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital.
In order to provide first class medical treatment to the injured, emergency has been imposed in all the main hospital of the city. Those who succumbed to their injuries in Khyber Teaching Hospital were identified as Nadeem Jehangir, Arbab, Rahimullah, Mohammad Irshad, Fayyaz, Faisal Hikmat, Samiullah, Rahim Gul, Mohammad Wali, Azim Gul, Ihsanullah and Ziarat Gul.
The injured admitted in Khyber Teaching Hospital were identified as Asghar, Samiullah, Haroon, Rasheed, Zikrullah, Nek Mohammad, Abdul Malik, Bukht Muner, Noor Zada, Shamat, Akbar Hussain, Ghulam Razi, Hakeem Khan, Anwar Javed, Nasir, Kirat, Afsar, Inayat, Abdul Rahman, Shamim, Aziz-ur-Rahman, Mohammad Sadiq, Gulab, Qaisar, Hazrat Kamal, Hazrat Umer, Gulab, Mustafa Kamal, Mohammad Naeem, Badshah Meer, Gul Zaman, Mian Jan, Naseem, Zakir, Yousaf Basir, Ahmad Jan, Fazal Hadi, Jabar, Gul Nazir, Syed Rahman, Sher Asghar, Lodak, Shahid, Mohammad Azam, Yaqoob, Baz Khan, Sohail, Fazal Hussain, Tufail Amjad, Zar Mohammad, Khan Sher, Maswood, Yarzada, Badshah Khan, Tufel Zafran, Zia-ul-Haq, Kemia Gul and Mobeen.
Meanwhile Central President of Awami National Party Asfandyar Wali Khan and Provincial President ANP Afrasiab Khattak strongly condemned the suicide attack and termed it an inhuman act of terrorism. They prayed for the early recovery of the injured person and directed party workers to donate blood to the blast victims.
KP Minister for Information Mian Iftikhar Hussain visited Hayatabad Medical Complex soon after the blast where he inquired about the health of the injured people. While talking to media persons, he said that war against militants would continue till their elimination. He said that in order to win war on terror, allied countries would have to end mistrust. He condemned the blast in strong words.
AFP add: Deputy chief of the semi-autonomous administration Khalid Mumtaz Kundi had said 117 people were also wounded in the attack.
“It was a suicide attack. The bomber was wearing about 8-10 kg of explosives and was on foot. He detonated in the main prayer hall,” he added.
Witness Gul Jamal Afridi, 46, a local truck driver told AFP that he had been thrown to the ground in the intensity of the blast.
“I saw smoke and fire. People were dying and crying for help, some were running in panic. I saw body parts and human flesh, it was horrible,” he said.
Student Saqib Ullah, 24, said he had tried to help those lying near him after the bomb went off, but found most were already dead.
“I saw my uncle lying in a pool of blood. I ran towards him and picked him up to carry on my back, but he had already died,” he said.

Enemy can’t dare harm Pakistan: PM

Enemy can’t dare harm Pakistan: PM:
LAHORE – Assuring the nation that no one will dare harm the country, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has maintained that Pakistan’s foundation is the Two-Nation Theory, which is running in ‘our veins’, and ‘we will not spare any sacrifice to protect and propagate it to the next generations’.
“My government is working according to the vision of the Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, and we are making efforts to make Pakistan an Islamic, democratic and welfare state. We should not be deterred by the challenges and must stand united to fight these off, as it is a trait of living nations.”
He was addressing the ground-breaking ceremony of the Aiwan-i-Quaid-i-Azam on Saturday, which is being constructed by the Nazaria-i-Pakistan Trust. Upon his arrival, the premier was received by NPT Chairman and TheNation Editor-in-Chief Majid Nizami and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. Two children presented him bouquets. Punjab Governor Sardar Lateef Khan Khosa, Information Minister Firdous Ashiq Awan, Nawa-i-Waqt Group Deputy Managing Director Rameeza Majid Nizami, NPT Senior Vice-Chairman Begum Majida Wayne NPT Vice-Chairman Prof Dr Rafiq Ahmad, Justice (r) Mian Mehboob Ahmed, Sartaj Aziz, Fasih Iqbal, Begum Afeefa Mamdot, Senator Naeem Hussain Chattha, Begum Bushra Rehman, Begum Zakia Shahnawaz, Col (r) Jamshed Tareen, and a large number of gold medallists of the Karkunan-i-Tehreek-i-Pakistan and people from all walks of life attended the function. The proceedings of the ceremony were conducted by NPT Secretary Shahid Rasheed.
Gilani unveiled the plaque of the Aiwan-i-Quaid-i-Azam, while architect Kashif Aslam gave a briefing about the salient features of the construction. Also, the premier, Majid Nizami, Shahbaz Sharif, Khosa and Dr Awan dug the ground as a mark of beginning of the construction.
In his address, Gilani said he was honoured to be part of the ceremony, recalling that two years back he had laid the foundation stone of this national project. “I am proud of the fact that I inaugurated the construction of the historical building named after great leader of the 20th century, that is, the Quaid-i-Azam. It makes me more proud since my family’s Syed Zainul Abideen Gilani and my father Syed Alamdar Hussain Gilani were workers of the Quaid, and participated in the historical meeting of the All India Muslim League on March 23, 1940 as soldiers of the Quaid. Later on, they furthered the cause of Pakistan across the Punjab,” he mentioned, adding that the Pakistan Movement was a prime example of a democratic struggle, which foiled the dream of the Hindus and the British to establish their supremacy over the Muslims. “History stands witness that Sir Syed Ahmed Khan demanded a separate representation for the Muslims on the basis that the British parliamentary system was not suitable to the Subcontinent since the Hindu majority would have dominated the Muslim minority permanently. The Quaid also reached the same conclusion, and started his struggle for Pakistan as per the Two Nation Theory to gain independence in 1947,” he observed.
Paying rich tribute to the Quaid-i-Azam, he quoted well-known American historian Stanley Wolpert. “Few individuals significantly alter the course of history. Fewer still modify the map of the world. Hardly anyone can be credited with creating a nation-state. Muhammad Ali Jinnah did all three.”
The premier said the Quaid advocated social justice, and wanted to establish such a society where the rich could not harm the poor, and the big landowners could not exploit the growers. “Pakistan has been created because of the sacrifices of the poor. It is a country of the poor, and they have the right to rule it. The living standard of every person should be raised to such a level where there should be no difference between the poor and the rich,” he quoted the Quaid, while demanding of everyone to take cognizance of the fact that how far we had been successful in materialising Quaid’s vision and thinking.
He mentioned that the Quaid had taught us that great nations resolve their problems courageously. “I believe that instead of worrying about the present crises, we should tackle the situation in accordance with the Quaid’s principles of ‘Faith, Unity and Discipline’. These outline the basic guideline which will lead the nation to progress and prosperity,” he maintained, while assuring the people that no one would dare harm the 7th nuclear power, that is, Pakistan.
While substantiating his reference to crises, he mentioned country’s fight against terrorism. He paid tributes to brave officers, soldiers and people who sacrificed their lives for the country. “A nation cannot be defeated whose people take a pride in sacrificing their lives for their fellow beings. We will bring peace to Pakistan, and make it a hell for terrorists,” he pledged.
Gilani appreciated Majid Nizami and lauded his efforts for initiating the project of the Aiwan-i-Quaid-i-Azam. “He (Nizami) is a source of inspiration and strength for the Pakistanis, and he wants to see the country progressing as per the vision of the Quaid and Allama Muhammad Iqbal. He has never let the ideological basis of Pakistan go weak. We are all with you (Nizami) in this mission,” he assured, while felicitating Nizami and his colleagues for their efforts aimed at transmitting the ideology of Pakistan to the next generations.
He was pleased with the decision of converting the Aiwan into an Ideological University, and hoped that this institution would play an important role for training the future generations. “Pakistan is not just a piece of land, rather it is the name of an ideological state, which has its basis grounded in the Two-Nation Theory,” he said, while asking the attendees to show their resolve for turning the country into a modern Islamic, democratic and welfare state.
The PM mentioned that the federal government had already provided Rs200 million, which was not enough for such a project. He announced Rs50 million more for the university, and promised to finance the project further. He also directed Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan to establish a centre for media studies at the Aiwan-i-Quaid-i-Azam.
While thanking Majid Nizami and the NPT office-bearers for inviting him to the historic function, Shahbaz Sharif observed that the ceremony was important since what the NPT was doing now, no one else carried out such a noble task earlier, and the honour of paying tribute to the Quaid was pre-written for them. “Every single child knows that we achieved the first ideological Islamic state under Quaid’s selfless and exemplary leadership. However, these children have to be told about the ideas of the Quaid, which should be practised for giving shape of an Islamic country to Pakistan,” he said, adding that this Aiwan would achieve this, and strengthen relation of the future generation with the Quaid. “When the Quaid got independent state, he had stressed that this country would be a laboratory for the Islamic principles and teachings. I have firm belief that this Aiwan will fulfil this idea,” he predicted.
While declaring himself a worker of the Pakistan Muslim League, Shahbaz Sharif said it was our duty to promote Quaid’s vision, and with the initiation of the Aiwan-i-Quaid-i-Azam, the first step had been taken. “I believe that this Aiwan is not a name, rather it will function as an Ideological University, where the next generations will be imparted ideas, which will make them understand the reasons for gaining independence, and the ups and downs of the Pakistan Movement,” he added.
To him, his address would have been incomplete sans paying tribute to Majid Nizami, and he did not have words to applaud the NPT chairman, who had shouldered the responsibility of preserving everything connected to the Pakistan Movement. “Earlier, he played a key role in the construction of the Aiwan-i-Iqbal. He is included in the list of those personalities without whose mention, social, journalistic and political history will be incomplete. In the face of worst military rules, he kept the freedom of speech intact besides playing important role by training the youth through the media institute, NPT and Aiwan-i-Karkunan-i-Pakistan,” said the Punjab CM, who also added that Majid Nizami and his colleagues had shown light in the darkness of provincialism, terrorism, sectarianism, and backwardness.
Shahbaz Sharif also paid rich tribute to former Punjab CM Ghulam Haider Wayne Shaheed, who got resolution passed by the Punjab Assembly in 1991 for the establishment of the Aiwan-i-Quaid-i-Azam. “But fluid political situation and repeated military interventions led to the delay of the project,” he lamented, while talking about his contribution of allotting 44-kanal land and easing out the construction of the Aiwan. He assured the NPT of all-out assistance in the future as well.
While thanking Gilani for giving Rs200 million, he requested the premier to give more financial grants for early completion of the project.
Shahbaz Sharif maintained that Pakistan was passing through its direst crises, and facing internal and external threats to its integrity. “Terrorism has caused huge loss of lives, and if it is not stopped here, Quaid’s Pakistan will face more problems,” he said, while mentioning that every Pakistani was worried about the Karachi situation. “Innocent citizens are being killed in Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Please don’t waste more time in mending the mistakes since they are all our brothers,” he pleaded for ‘saving Quaid’s Pakistan’.
Majid Nizami mentioned that after the Aiwan-i-Iqbal, this Aiwan was also being constructed, and hoped that it would be completed soon. He told the audience that when the Aiwan-i-Iqbal was to be constructed, uniform-clad General Iqbal was the then Punjab governor, who asserted that Pakistan could not afford this luxury. “I told him that if Iqbal would not have urged the Quaid to comeback from London for leading the Muslims and achieving Pakistan, you (General) would have been a Sergeant Major somewhere,” he recalled, while adding that General Zia stopped his fellow from interfering in the matter, and let me (Nizami) talk about it.
Majid Nizami observed that because of the brave leadership of the ailing Quaid, we got Pakistan, but lost half of it because of our weaknesses. “Today’s situation in the Fata and Karachi is bleak. I request the PM to bring peace to the city of the Quaid, which is our economic and trade jugular vein, and don’t leave it at the mercy of Rehman (interior minister). If the Army is required to bring peace, bring it in,” he suggested.
While referring to Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani’s statement – ‘Two-Nation Theory is the basis of Pakistan’ – Nizami appreciated the General, and hoped that the Army would secure Kashmir back from the Indian hegemony, which was bent upon turning Pakistan into a desert. “In the Quranic symbolism, our missiles and nuclear bomb are our horses, and the Indian donkeys cannot fight us,” he maintained, adding that he did not want war, but if someone was bent upon killing us, wage water aggression against us the way Sutlej and Ravi were causing devastation after water release by India, then we should be ready for fighting the enemy.
Dr Firdaus Awan said by initiating the great project, the NPT had proven that it was competently guarding the ideological frontiers of Pakistan, and imparting true spirit of the Pakistan Movement to the new generation. “A nation which forgets its history, the history forgets its geography. Our history has traditions, which cannot be forgotten,” she said, while noting that the real objective of securing independence was to establish a society having constitutional supremacy, and giving due rights to all. She was of the view that the Muslims got a leader like the Quaid, who achieved Pakistan by bringing all Muslims on one platform. “After the deaths of the Quaid and Liaquat Ali Khan, Pakistan was relegated to the abyss of dictatorship, and Zulfikar Ali Bhutto brought democracy back to the country,” she said.
Prof Dr Rafique Ahmed delivered the welcome address, and thanked all the distinguished guests and people in attendance. While enlisting various efforts put forth by all concerned for the construction of the Aiwan-i-Quaid-i-Azam, he highlighted salient features of the project.

Shahid Kapoor’s Mausam copies Titanic’s posters

Shahid Kapoor’s Mausam copies Titanic’s posters:
Well, it seems tinsel town’s filmmakers are running short of ideas these days. They are aping Hollywood films and are constantly turning to the west for inspiration.

After we heard Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’s clearly ripped from ‘Lords of Dogtown’ and Rascals posters lifted from ‘Hangover’, the latest movie to now join the scene is Pankaj Kapoor’s directorial venture ‘Mausam’.

Rumours across the grapevine have it that Mausam’s poster bears a stark similarity to that of Leonardo and Kate Winslet starrer ‘Titanic’. In the poster, Shahid is seen holding Sonam’s hand in exactly the same style like Leo and Kate did for the 1997 film. Not just this, another major resemblance between the two posters is Sonam’s costume and her hairstyle. She is wearing a gown just like Kate Winslet, on the poster.

Earlier Sanjay Gupta was very close to Sanjay Dutt, they both used to make films together under their production house ‘White Feather Films’ but later their friendship fizzled and Dutt had stop working with Gupta. He even left their banner in 2007.

Now, some industry insiders are of the opinion that Gupta has found Sanjay Dutt’s replacement in John Abraham and will be making movies with the actor from now on. “Although Dutt and Gupta had a bitter parting, one thing is clear that they were a magical pair on-screen. Their company made some good films and no one has ever presented Dutt the way Gupta has.

While Dutt moved on to star in some mindless comedies, Gupta himself did not make any film for five years. However, he is now back with a vengeance. John has now become like a family member. He is often seen at Gupta’s bungalow Woodstock, in Versova.”

When contacted, Gupta said, “It’s not about replacing anyone. It is about moving on. I have a fantastic equation with John and his personality and presence is perfectly suited for the kind of films I make at White Feather. We’ve begun work on Shootout At Wadala. We’ve also locked another script, which is a huge action franchise that we intend to start immediately post Shootout. John has no agendas and what you see is what you get and that is what I respect and love about him.”

Indian-spilled water sinks villages in Kasur

Indian-spilled water sinks villages in Kasur:
LAHORE/KASUR – A fresh flood warning has been sounded across Punjab province in the wake of possible massive deluge, as India spilled more than 70,000 cusecs of additional water into River Sutlej without prior information to Pakistani authorities, inundating dozens of villages in Ganda Singhwala area of Kasur district on Tuesday morning.
Water experts say that New Delhi, in sheer violation of the Indus Water Treaty, released more than 70,000 cusecs of water into River Sutlej at Pakistani side which mounted its level to an alarming level and washed away dozens of villages in Kasur after creating an emergency flood situation in the entire area.
“The water level in River Sutlej is speedily mounting up as more water is coming from the Indian side. The Pakistani authorities have set up flood camps in the endangered areas of Kasur to overcome any possible mishap,” a provincial government official told this reporter.
On Tuesday morning, according to water experts, more than 48,000 cusecs of water was passing through River Sutlej at Ganda Singhwala point. “We are expecting that the water level may further rise as Indians are releasing more floodwater from reservoirs upstream,” Ayyub Khan Mayo, Chief of the Pakistan Muttahida Kisan Mahaz said.
Agriculturists feared that the expected high flood of water could destroy the standing crops on a vast land comprising hundreds of hectares. Officials said that thousands of stranded people are lying under the open sky in most parts of Kasur district while they are yet to receive any emergency aid from the authorities concerned.
Meanwhile, the Metrological Department has predicted that water level in the Ravi would remain low during this monsoon but after release of water from India, floods could hit Bhutsen and Basantar drainages of the river. Though not at danger level yet, but the water level is also mounting up in the Ravi River, sources added.
Over 170 villages along the Ravi are evacuated every year while the local administration is put on high alert in Narowal and Sialkot districts to cope with any emergency, official sources said. “The local administration is working with the villagers to get over one hundred villages evacuated in Narowal district in the wake of possible deluge in the locality as India has started diverting floodwaters to Pakistan,” sources added.
The Pakistan-specific defence structures of India could also wash away drainage located at Shakargarh. Massive flooding is also possible in Basantar, Jhajri, Oojh and Khattar drainages and a water inflow of 100,000 cusec at Shahdara could cause massive destruction, if India resorted to divert floodwater towards Pakistan, the officials warned.
It is worth mentioning that during the Pak-India parleys held in March and May 2010, India had agreed to install telemetry system on the rivers in its territory to check real-time water flow. But later, New Delhi refused to respond to the issues raised by Islamabad.
In such an eventuality, the big question remains, how aggressively India is violating the Indus Water Teary (IWT-1960) by diverting the river courses.
“We have credible reports that India during this season is going to release about 200,000-cusec additional water in the River Ravi, Sutlej, Jhelum and Chenab. This high flow of water is bound to wash away thousands of villages in Punjab province, if efforts are not made to stop Indian hegemony on river waters,” experts said.
Water experts also revealed that Pakistani engineers are battling hard not only to nullify Indian hegemony over the river waters but also trying to avert possible massive deluge as India is likely to release over 100,000 cusecs of additional water in the River Ravi without prior information to the Pakistani authorities.
Experts say that on the one hand India is stealing Pakistani water by building dams on rivers flowing into Pakistan from Occupied Kashmir while during monsoon season New Delhi deflect river-courses to release floodwater towards Pakistani side.
It is important to mention here that India is constructing 40 dams on River Jhelum, out of which 4 big and 16 small dams have started functioning. India is constructing the third largest dam of the world in Kargil on River Indus, which will block 45 % flow of water to Pakistan.
Our Kasur correspondent adds: As water surged in Sutlej on Tuesday and submerged standing crops in Kasur villages, the district administration issued a final call for the evacuation of the villages likely to be affected by flood. District Kasur administration claimed on Tuesday to have completed all preparations to meet any untoward condition but was facing problems to motivate villagers to leave homes and move with their cattle and valuables to safer places.
On Tuesday, the water level at Keekar post was 17.5 feet (a rise of 4 feet during the last couple of days) which was expected to rise further.
Source said the water released from India was rainwater accumulated at Opra Barrage and it had nothing to do with the Bakhra Dam that was yet to be filled.
Standing crops stretching over hundreds of acres were inundated due to the floodwater at more than 15 villages. These villages include Bhikhi Wind, Kalanger Nagar, Kamalpura, Mastaiki, Pattan, Ganda Singhwala, Basti Bangladesh, Phati Wala and Bakkarke.
Distrct administration was there for the last two nights to meet any emergency. It had installed emergency tents at Talwar post to help people of affected villages.
AC capt (R) Altaf Hussain said at Talwar post the floodwater that was of low level had so far submerged crops outside some villages but it had not entered in the houses. He added that efforts were underway to evacuate the villages and shift the cattle heads and valuables to safer places.
District’s Rescue Incharge Dr Ikhtisham Hasan said his local teams were already in the affected areas under the supervision of Naveed Chaudhry while a special rescue force from Lahore had also arrived at Talwar post on Monday night.

60,000 rendered homeless in Sindh

60,000 rendered homeless in Sindh:
KARACHI/LAHORE (Agencies) - Devastating rains have triggered floods in Sindh, where Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah said one million people have been affected.
Villages have been flooded and crops destroyed in country’s bread basket, which was one of the worst-hit areas in unprecedented floods in 2010 that affected 21 million people and caused losses of $10 billion.
Badin is the most affected district where more than half of the total population has been displaced, while rains have also caused havoc in the districts of Tando Mohammad Khan, Mirpurkhas, Thar, Umerkot and Tando Allahyar. The meteorological office has forecast more rain in coming days.
More than 50 villages were inundated in tehsil Jati and Mirpur Bathoro of Thatta on Wednesday when floodwater flowing from Badin raided the area after breaches developed at eight different places in the saline nullahs carrying floodwater. Cotton, rice and other crops on thousands of acres of land have been destroyed and hundreds of inhabitants of these areas are taking shelter in two government schools at Jati Chowk.
In Badin, floodwater was still gushing out from saline nullahs on the seventh day of the calamity’s onset and thousands of flood affectees have taken refuge in different relief camps set up by district governments. A TV channel reported that eight people, including seven children, have died in the district due to gastroenteritis. Civil surgeon Dr Moosa Memon said there has been a sharp rise in the number of gastroenteritis cases and other water borne diseases are also spreading rapidly.
Eight people died due to gastroenteritis in relief camps while a woman passed away because she was not provided adequate treatment. Villagers protested and blocked the Karachi-Badin highway claiming that no relief work was being done. Flood affectees have appealed to authorities to start a boat service to rescue women and children trapped in inundated villages.
Sindh chief minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah told reporters overnight that one million people had been affected. Shah at the disaster management authority said crops had been destroyed and houses flooded.
But Sajjad Haider Shah, an official in the provincial disaster management authority said, “At least 700,000 people have been affected by the floods caused by the recent rains in the six districts of Sindh province... Some 60,000 people have been rendered homeless, who have migrated to safer areas.“ There were unconfirmed reports that 30 people had been killed in the past week, he added.
The new affectees are joining those tens of thousands of people who were affected by last year’s folds but could not be rehabilitated. They are still living in emergency camps and British charity Oxfam has accused Pakistan of failing to invest in prevention measures, making it vulnerable to further disaster.
The situation in Punjab was also far form satisfactory where flooded Ravi overflowed and inundated dozens of villages in suburbs of Mian Channun and Nankana. Crops of cotton, rice and vegetables on thousands of acres were devastated. The affectees complained they were getting no assistance from the government and were evacuating to safer places on their own.
Many other villages along the Ravi, particularity near Mandi Faizabad, have been submerged in floodwater. Floods have forced thousands of people to live under the open sky. No medical camp has been set up in the calamity-hit areas.
However, situation in Sutluj River near Kasur was getting better water level had started to lower and the locals were returning to their homes, according to a private TV channel report. DCO Kasur Syed Irshad Hussain said that river Sutlej will come to its normal flow in a day or two and water level will come down drastically. He said that no major flood was expected until September 15 in the area and the flood victims were returning to their areas in Kasur district.
India had spilled more than 70,000 cusecs of water into the Sutlej which mounted its water level to an alarming level and inundated dozens of villages in Kasur, creating an emergency in the area.
However, it is reported that water level was soaring in Sutlej at Basirpur in Okara and in Vehari. The water inflow at Head Islam is 7,000 cusecs that will surge to 15,000 to 20,000 until Thursday (today). Owing to the situation, the people living along the banks of Sutlej in these areas have started evacuation.

Hollywood star to pair up with Aamir in Dhoom3

Hollywood star to pair up with Aamir in Dhoom3:
Well, it seems the star cast of Yash Raj Banner’s ‘Dhoom3’ is going to get bigger and better.

The buzz across the grapevine has it that a Hollywood hottie is expected to work with Aamir Khan in the action flick. The ‘Doom3’ contingent which consists of Aamir Khan, Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra will now be joined by any of the three Hollywood starlets – Oscar winner Natalie Portman or Spanish star Penelope Cruz or Eva Longoria of Desperate Housewives fame. The actress will be playing Aamir’s love interest.

Earlier, Katrina Kaif was the likely candidate for the role but as the role involves sporting swimwear and a passionate kissing scene with Aamir, the actress bowed out of the film. Hence, after Katrina’s back out the decision to get a Hollywood actress on board was taken in a closed-door meeting.

A source says, “The names you mention are definitely in the list. Yash Raj has never worked with an international star in any of its films. The production house has now decided to take the Dhoom franchise to a global level.

One safe and effective way of going global would be the casting of a Hollywood hottie.” A formal announcement however is expected to follow soon.

Confirming the same, Yash Raj’s official spokesperson says, “Yes, as of now some new international options are being considered.”

Ranbir Kapoor apes Salman

Ranbir Kapoor apes Salman:
First ShahRukh Khan tried it in ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ then Salman Khan in ‘Dabangg’ followed by Ajay Devgn in ‘Singham’ and now the moustache has come out of hiding yet again.

The latest report has it that Ranbir Kapoor will be donning the moustache in Anurag Basu’s next venture ‘Barfee’. The actor, who plays a deaf and mute character, was recently caught sporting a batik kurta and white pyjamas with a pencil thin moustache and aviator glasses on the sets of ‘Barfee’. Earlier, during the shooting schedule in Darjeeling, Ranbir was seen without the moustache. But it seems for the Kolkata’s shooting spell he has grown it.

What’s interesting is that Ranbir’s look is strikingly similar to that of Salman’s Chulbul Pandey’s look. He is wearing the aviator glasses and moustache in exactly the same way which reminds us of Salman’s Dabangg look. Not just this, Ranbir is aping Salman’s hairstyle as well.

Well, after Salman’s iconic look in the film ‘Dabangg’, moustache has now become an integral part of Bollywood.

ISLAMABAD – The federation on Friday unveiled a major plan of political reforms and development in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) as part of efforts to blunt the appeal for militancy by allowing greater political activities through key amendments in the relatively tough federal laws and initiating comprehensive development projects.
President Asif Ali Zardari signed the decree that allows political parties to operate freely in Fata. Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani was also present who announced development projects for Fata. The law amendments include changes in Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR) and extension of Political Parties Order 2002 to tribal areas. The Fata has been in the international focus since 9/11 terrorist attacks and later the US-led international war against terror, as the area is not only has strongholds of defunct TTP, headquartered in Waziristan, but is also considered by the US as the global headquarters of al-Qaeda. In his speech at a ceremony at the President House, President Zardari declared: “In the long run we must defeat the militant mindset to defend our country, our democracy, our institutions and our way of life,” Zardari said, describing the system of justice in the tribal belt as ‘obsolete’. The president also accepted the demand to set up a hospital in Fata and assured that it will be constructed on fast track.
The two orders signed by the president will set into motion the far reaching administrative, judicial and political reforms in the tribal areas he had announced on the eve of Independence Day two years ago but the implementation of which had been stalled for various reasons.
“Henceforth the political parties, subject to appropriate regulations to be framed, will be freely allowed to operate in the tribal areas and present their socio-economic programmes,” the Presidential Spokesman Farhatullah Babar said. Babar said that by allowing political parties to operate freely means ‘a vacuum has been filled’ and that parties would now liaise with tribal elders in order to carry out their activities in a peaceful manner.
Under the reforms, an accused has to be produced before an authority within 24 hours of his arrest and has the right to bail. The practice of arresting tribesmen under the notion of ‘collective responsibility’ will also be softened, said Babar.
Prime Minister Gilani in his remarks said the government had launched the second cadet college in Wana, South Waziristan, and three more such colleges would be constructed. Similarly, the government has started work on two highways of international standard and work on two more is about to start, he added. The PM said, “We shall ensure that all traditional routes of the historical passes are brought up to international standards to facilitate trade with Afghanistan, Central Asian States and beyond.”
The Pakistani security forces have been fighting against foreign and homegrown militants in much of the tribal belt, but because of long porous border they have been enjoying a fair degree of freedom of movement, despite action against them on the both sides of the border over the past decade.
Security experts believe that this was largely due to the lesser number of security checkpoints set up either by the Nato/ Isaf forces and lack of will and action on part of the Afghan government that led to increase in cross-border incursions in Pakistan from the Afghanistan side. In past few months, even those local militants who had fled operations by Pakistani military and slipped into Afghanistan, have been returning to mount major attacks on the security forces and police in Fata.
Afp ads:Talking to the media explaining the salient features of the reforms package Babar said contrary to past practice an accused shall have right to bail and it will be mandatory to produce him before the concerned authority within 24 hours of arrest. Women, children below 16 and aged above 65 shall not be arrested or detained under collective responsibility.
He said that henceforth the whole tribe will not be arrested under the collective responsibility clause. Step-wise action will be taken, at first immediate male members of family will be arrested followed by sub-tribe and then by other sections of the tribe, he said.
Cases will now be disposed of in a fixed timeframe and checks placed on arbitrary power of arrest under the notorious Section 40-A of the FCR.
Appeals will lie before appellate authority comprising of commissioner and a dedicated additional commissioner (judicial) to be notified by the governor.
The reforms envisage setting of a Fata tribunal headed by chairman and two other members out of whom one shall be a person who has been civil servant of not less than BPS 20 having experience of tribal administration and other member shall be a person qualified to be appointed as judge of high court well conversant with Rewaj.
The FATA tribunal shall exercise power of revision against orders/judgments of appellate authority and shall have powers similar to high court under Article 199 of the Constitution.
A new section has been added for action against false prosecution in civil and criminal matters. Under it the defendant will be entitled to adequate compensation in criminal matters and compensatory costs in civil matters.
He said that no person shall be deprived of his property without adequate compensation as per prevailing market value in accordance with the procedure laid down in the Land Acquisition Act, 1894 procedure in settled areas.
For the first time the funds at the disposal of the political agent shall be audited by Auditor General of Pakistan, the spokesperson said.
Section 58-A has been added to make provision for jail inspections by FATA tribunal, appellate authority and political agent. Rules will be framed for regulating the Agency Welfare Fund.
The political reforms are expected to gradually help Pakistani government to tighten its writ through political means and purge Fata of terrorism and extremism. The observers also opined that this development might lead to creation of another province for administrative purposes.
Local tribesmen were alienated as result of US-imposed war against terror on Pakistan a decade ago, making it easier for militant networks to recruit young men to take up arms to fight the Pakistani government and avenge a covert American drone war. During this course thousands of Pakistani civilians and security personal embraced martyrdom.
Held in the jam packed hall of the Presidency the signing ceremony was witnessed by tribal elders drawn from all the seven tribal agencies, five frontier regions, Fata parliamentarians, KPK governor, provincial cabinet of KPK, diplomats, civil society members, media persons and representatives of a number of NGOs.
Farhatullah Babar said representatives of various political parties who had earlier formed a multi parties Joint Committee on FATA Reforms and had called on the president in March this year calling for early implementation of the promised reforms also witnessed the signing ceremony.
The political parties represented included ANP, PML-N, JI, PPP-S, PML-Q, MQM-S, NP, PKMAP and JUI (F). The prime minister, federal ministers, secretaries and diplomats also attended the function.
Tribal elders, FATA parliamentarians and representatives of political parties behind the President’s desk signalled the broad based consensus of all stakeholders as the driving force behind the reforms package, he said.
Speaking on the occasion the President said that his head bowed in gratitude before Allah for having fulfilled yet another promise made with the people of FATA. He congratulated the tribesmen for harmonising reforms with their tribal customs and traditions.
He said that the legal and political reforms would rid the tribal people from a century of bondage and usher them into mainstream of national life while respecting local customs and traditions.
Some may say that the reforms are not enough and much more needs to be done, he said adding “let it also not be forgotten that no one took even a single step in the last one hundred years to reform the FCR and give political rights to the people”.
The president said that the door had been unlocked and it is for the people of tribal areas to decide how much reforms they wanted in their system of governance. Any system imposed on them from outside would be counterproductive, the president cautioned.
Babar said the reforms hammered out in consultation with all stakeholders approved in principle on August 12, 2009 in a meeting in the Presidency that was also attended by the prime minister. The meeting had left it to the president to announce it any time he deemed fit.
Although the president had announced the reforms two days later on the eve of 63rd Independence Day, its implementation was stalled for a variety of reasons, Babar said.
The signing today has made the process of reforms irreversible, he said. Any attempt to undo it will require dismantling of consensus among the stakeholders and another order to be signed by the president, Babar said.
The century old Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR) will be tamed to make it responsive to the human rights of the people, he said.
The permission to political parties to sell their programs in tribal areas will counter the pernicious one-sided campaign of militants to impose their ideological agenda on the people rejecting the state, the Constitution, democracy and indeed our very way of life, he said.
President Zardari said the law had been changed in accordance with the aspirations of the people and democratic principles while respecting local customs and traditions.
Babar said after the amendments in the law the arbitrary powers of arrest and detention without the right to bail had been curtailed.
He said that the FCR was a draconian law under which there is no provision of appeal, wakeel or daleel (no right to appeal, or engaging lawyer or reliance on reasoning) against the orders of the executive. The tribesmen were subjected to the whims of administration officials. People have been arrested and kept in jail for long years without trial under the FCR. Under it, a person could be sent to jail for three years without trial. The jail term could be extended indefinitely in installments of three years and under the territorial responsibility women and children had been arrested and sent to jail in the past.
The amendments have changed the most obnoxious provisions of FCR, Babar maintained.
Giving background of the efforts made in the past to bring about the changes, Babar said, in November 2004, the Senate passed a unanimous PPP resolution calling for changes in the FCR.
In 2004, the former prime minister Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto formed a special committee of the PPP called the Fata Reforms Committee.
Subsequently, she also filed a petition in the Supreme Court for political reforms in the tribal areas.
In November 2004, the Senate adopted a PPP resolution for reforms in Fata.
In August 2005 the Senate adopted the report of its Committee of Human Rights that called for changes in the FCR.
In August 2008, the Bhutto Foundation invited hundreds of tribesmen from all tribal agencies to solicit their views on the FCR and on political reforms in the tribal areas who unanimously recommended a minimum set of reforms.
In January 2009, the President invited Fata tribesmen to the Presidency and heard them say what they had to about the FCR and political reforms. The cabinet committee on FCR under Farooq Naek considered all of these and other previous reports that had recommended changes in the law in accordance with the wishes of the people.
Next month the Cabinet approved the report of the cabinet committee on FCR which were also approved by the President, he said.
In March 2011, representatives of major political parties called on the President in the Presidency demanding an early implementation of the reforms package.

Kareena plays a pivotal role in ‘Bodyguard’

Kareena plays a pivotal role in ‘Bodyguard’: "
If you thought Salman Khan would outshine or overshadow Kareena Kapoor in ‘Bodyguard’, then director Siddique’s statement would prove you wrong.

According to him, Kareena who will be seen essaying a Management student in the flick has a powerful role in it. Her character will appear as worthy enough as Salman’s character. She will make herself noticeable even though she is paired opposite someone as good as Salman.

Kareena’s role has been kept as it was in the film’s Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu version. “That’s right, there are no changes that have been brought to Kareena’s characterization in BODYGUARD,” confirms Siddique.

He further adds, “When she was roped in the film, everyone was quite clear about the fact that she would be playing exactly the same character as has been originally written. When you would see the film, you would realize by yourself that her role is something that just cannot be tampered at all.”

“Kareena has seen Malayalam as well as Tamil version and knew from the very beginning where the girl’s character was headed towards. This is what excited her most about doing the film. Also the very reason behind her being approached for the part was some strong performance which was expected from the leading lady here. We needed a star performer here and Kareena fitted in just right. I am very happy with her performance. And why just me? I am sure after seeing the film; audience too would say that amongst the current bunch of actresses, only Kareena could have played this role,” he signed off.

Furore in PA over Punjab partition

Furore in PA over Punjab partition: "
LAHORE - As the Punjab Assembly speaker did not entertain any of the resolutions on creation of new provinces, the house witnessed a pandemonium on Thursday when lawmakers started speaking on the issue on point of orders and nobody was ready to listen to the divergent views of others on both sides of the political divide.
Though the opposition had requisitioned the session to discuss law and order situation, alleged financial indiscipline in Punjab and prevailing sense of deprivation in the southern belt, but two legislators, PML-Q’s Ch Zaheeruddin and PML-Z’s Shahid Anjum, later submitted two separate resolutions in assembly secretariat seeking creation of south Punjab (Saraiki province) and Bahawalpur province, respectively. Ali Haider Noor Niazi of MMA, however, came up with a resolution in the middle of Thursday’s sitting, demanding making of ‘Thal Province’.
Interestingly, Shahid Anjum and Ali Haider Niazi both are part of the government alliance in Punjab. It seems that PML-N decided not to come to the forefront and instead choose the coalition partners to demand for other provinces to neutralise the demand for Saraiki province coming from its rival parties, PPP and PML-Q.
Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal did not entertain any of the three resolutions, maintaining that they were in conflict with the constitution. The movers, however, were given the opportunity to speak out their mind on the issue which gave rise to an uproar in the house.
Opposition Leader Raja Riaz pleaded his party’s case on the issue. The treasury members condemned the speeches of Raja Riaz and PML-Q parliamentary leader Ch Zaheeruddin Ahmad, as both spoke in favour of a separate province for southern Punjab. Conversely, the members on the opposition benches created commotion through continuous sloganeering when Shahid Anjum of PML-Z and Ali Haider Noor Niazi of MMA pleaded their case for creation of Bahawalpur and Thal province respectively. As the session started, Ch Zaheer stood on a point of order and diverted the chair’s attention towards the resolution he wanted to move in the house. He also requested the speaker that he be allowed to move it out of turn by suspending the relevant rules.
While citing a previous resolution on the same subject submitted way back in June 25, 2010, and which got lapsed due to adjournment of the session, Zaheer said that PML-Q wanted a new province for southern Punjab on administrative grounds and not on linguistic basis. He said neighbouring India had 14 provinces at the time of partition, but now it has got 29. He said creation of more provinces had not weakened India, rather strengthened it. Zaheer also pointed out the long distance of district Rahimyar Khan from Lahore and proximity of Amratsar with it to substantiate his point for separate province status for southern Punjab.
He said there was no voice for separate province except in Punjab, and hence there was no need for setting up of any national commission on the issue as proposed by the PML-N. He threatened that if rejected, this peaceful demand for creation of a new province in southern Punjab may take ‘some other course’.
Opposition Leader Raja Riaz said that nobody could suppress the voice of new province in Punjab. “Now the opponents will not only have to listen to this demand, they will have to implement it”, he averred, adding, Takht-e-Lahore will be overturned this time.
Raja said his party had been saying time and again that sense of deprivation in south Punjab was on a rise due to unequal distribution of resources. He said his party was ready to give blood if needed for creation of new province.
Frequent interruptions from Treasury members marred opposition leader’s speech. PML-N MPAs Abdur Razzaq Dhiloon and Ghazala Dar were prominent among the legislators who tried to disrupt the opposition leader’s address by their frequent reference to shortage of electricity in the country. The opposition members responded by raising slogans: Taira Khawab, maira Khawab, Janoobi Punjab, Janoobi Punjab. Hum sab ki hai aik aawaz Bun k rahay ga Janoobi Punjab, Lay k rahain gay Janoobi Punjab.
Noor Niaz came up with a demand for creation of Thal province and asked the chair to allow him move the resolution in the house in this regard. He called opposition members as traitors and chauvinists because they were demanding a separate province on linguistic grounds. He alleged that opposition wanted to break the country by demanding new province on ethnic grounds.
On being called traitors, the opposition members showed their resentment by raising slogans against him. A PML-Q legislator Majida Zaidi threw copies of assembly agenda on him in protest. Niazi got furious, turned back and walked a few steps towards the opposition benches to see who had performed that ‘obnoxious’ act. Finding no clue, he reportedly uttered objectionable remarks before coming back to is seat.
This was enough to provoke PPP’s Fauzia Behram who gave him a push (while he was passing by). Later, she walked up to his seat and pushed him again. Seeing this, around a dozen MPAs from the treasury and opposition benches rushed to the ‘place of incident’ to set them apart. The speaker’s call for order fell on deaf ears. He gave five-minute time to members to come back to their seats and the threat worked. But, the House was in disorder again when Noor Niazi resumed his speech and continued with his tirade against the opposition members. This time, the speaker decided to adjourn the house for an hour.
When the session resumed after one-hour break, the speaker asked Niazi to apologise for the objectionable remarks. But he refused to comply with speaker’s order saying he had committed no offence. The opposition members insisted that he should tender and apology.
In the meantime, Shahid Anjum of the PML-Z stood up on a point of order, and started reading out his resolution regarding creation of Bahawalpur province. He pleaded that Bahwalpur province should be created first before taking decision on any other province. He also sought speaker’s ruling about maintainability of his resolution but the chair reserved its ruling for some other day. The opposition members disrupted Anjum’s speech by raising slogans against him. Nothing was audible in the house when speaker prorogued the session sine die.
Earlier, the session started at 11:54am, one hour and 54 minutes behind its scheduled time. The one-day session cost the exchequer around Rs16 million, while the assembly did not take up the agenda for which the session had been convened.

Ranbir and Imtiaz to team up again

Thursday, 11 August 2011

Ranbir and Imtiaz to team up again: "
After working together in ‘Rockstar’, actor Ranbir Kapoor and filmmaker Imtiaz Ali would be joining hands once again. The duo would team up for a film to be produced by Sajid Nadiadwala.

Ranbir had vowed never to repeat working with the same director. He had a bitter experience with Siddharth Anand and took the decision after ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’ and ‘Anjaana Anjaani’ faux pas. Even Imtiaz had thought not to repeat actors in any of his films. But it seems the ‘Rockstar’ actor- director duo is going to make an exception for Nadiadwala this time.

An insider informed, “There has been a lot of speculation surrounding Ranbir’s frequent visits to Sajid Nadiadwala’s office. Many even believed that Ranbir may replace Shah Rukh Khan in Nadiadwala’s 2 States. But that’s not true. Sajid actually wants Ranbir in a hardcore action film. And he wants Imtiaz Ali to direct Ranbir in his first full fledged action film.”

“The action genre is something that Imtiaz hasn’t dabbled with so far. Sajid too is ready to invest really well for the project,” added the source.

Sajid Nadiadwala however confirmed his plans of hiring Ranbir after Anjaana Anjaani, but he did not say anything about signing Imtiaz for the same film. He said, “Ranbir is so versatile. I want him to do something he hasn’t done so far. Yes, we’re looking seriously at an action film. However who will direct it I can’t say at the moment.”
