It almost seems like an eternity ever since one has been longing to catch Saif Ali Khan and his film AGENT VINOD. The film has been in the making for a while and though there have been quite a few announcements earlier when it comes to the film's release plans, 23rd March seems to be the D-day now.

''This time around it is final. In fact the theatrical promo of AGENT VINOD should be out soon. Saif has gone an extra distance to ensure that it is well cut and makes an instant impact because a lot depends upon the First Look these days. It pretty much brings the film in a make or break situation. He doesn't want to hurry up things and then get into a fire fighting mode,'' informs a source.


He continues, ''AGENT VINOD is a film which is in a space of its own. UnlikeShahrukh who believed in starting the promotion of RA.ONE nine months in advance, Saif wants a sudden burst in quickest possible time. Hence, he believes that only two months of intense promotion would do the trick. Of what I have seen of the film, it has shaped up fantastically. It is a brilliant looking film and the promo just establishes the premise and milieu in just the perfect manner. Saif has a winner in hand.''

Well, we would like to believe that only when we have a dekko at the First Look. Indications are that the wait would be over once our 'desi' James Bond would be unveiled for the first time with either AGNEEPATH or EK MAIN AUR EKK TU.

Bipasha Basu at the top without Khan films

Bipasha Basu's 'jodi' with Madhavan is indeed looking good in JODI BREAKERS and while the 'unconventional pairing' has been hailed so far on the basis of promos, one also can't ignore the fact that she is one of the very few actresses in the top rung who hasn't been paired with the top three Khans (Aamir, Salman and Shahrukh) so far.

Amrita was wary of 'bold content' in BLOOD MONEY

When it comes to a film by the Bhatts, an actress is more or less prepared to step into a world where sex and skin show may form an integral part of the story telling. No wonder that in the times when adult star Sunny Leone is in talks to feature as the leading lady in JISM 2, one film old Amrita Puri (who had debuted with AISHA as the loveable 'behenji') had all the right reasons to wonder if she really wanted to move into the Bhatts' camp with BLOOD MONEY.

A close friend of Amrita says, "She was obviously in two minds even before consenting to do an audition for the film. With talks of RAAZ 3, JISM 2 and MURDER 3 all set to turn bolder than before, Amrita didn't want to take chances."


This was pretty much a perception factor playing in her mind since, except forMURDER 2, last few films from Bhatts - whether it is CROOK, TUM MILE or JASHNN - haven't quite required their leading ladies like Neha Sharma, Soha Ali Khan orAnjana Sukhani to shed their inhibition.

Her friend continues, "When she first heard that BLOOD MONEY was a Bhatt film, she wondered how they thought of her as someone who could play a femme fatale. Naturally, she was scared. She wanted to change her image from the days of AISHA, par itna bhi nahi!"

She did ultimately step in for the audition and was relieved to find that BLOOD MONEY wasn't quite taking the sex-n-sleaze route.

"Frankly speaking, post AISHA when I prepared the list of filmmakers with whom I wanted to work, I didn't really have Bhatts in my mind," says Amrita in a candid tone, "However once I went through the script and realised that BLOOD MONEY was actually a dramatic take on the lives of an ordinary couple, I was game for it and all my doubts were laid to rest."

IRDS Awards: Vidya Balan wins best actress for THE DIRTY PICTURE

The Best Male Character award has been given Rajeev Khandelval for playing the character Raunak Kaul who is a DJ by profession in the film SOUNDTRACK. Raunak is seen battling with his inner demons and coming back from the verge of extinction in the film. Vidya Balan bagged the Best Female Character award for her role as Reshma alias Silk in the film THE DIRTY PICTURE. Vidya depicted the roller-coaster and controversial life of actress Silk Smitha.

Onir won the Best Director award for the film I AM for raising many important issues like child abuse, gay rights, Kashmiri Pandits' problem and the issue of sperm donation in an intricate but beautiful manner.

The Best Story award has been given to KYA YAHI SACH HAI written by Y P Singh, ex IPS officer, for being a very genuine and truthful story about governance and policing.

The Best Song award has been given to "Mauka" from the film AARAKSHANwritten by Prasoon Joshi for portraying the contradictory positions being taken on reservation by its opponents and supporters.

The awards were picked by a Jury headed by social activist and IPS officer Amitabh Thakur along with others.

Vidya Balan to do an item number

Following the huge success of her last film THE DIRTY PICTURE, Vidya Balan is preparing to take her 'Ooh La La' tag to newer heights with her very first item song in the Rajesh Mapuskar directed FERRARI KI SAWAARI, under the banner of Vidhu Vinod Chopra Films.

Vidya is expected to go ultra-glamorous in the item song. The item song is expected to be a major part of the film. The choreographer is still undecided though the shoots are expected to commence in early February 2012.

Less than a month remains for the release of EK MAIN AUR EKK TU and debutant director Shakun Batra is confident that just like other Kareena Kapoor starrers, his debut film too would benefit immensely from the presence of an actress of her caliber.

''I know for sure that people would appreciate her performance. She has put a lot of her in EK MAIN AUR EKK TU. In fact this is one of the few scripts which she has read more than twice because she wanted to do something more in the film and grab the nuances well. If I look at the film objectively as a director as well as a member of the audience, I see this as one of her better performances,'' says Shakun.


Since the film is set in contemporary times with an urban set up to it, one wonders whether it would risk turning out to be a caricature affair with characters that come across as a tad stereotyped.

''See, the thing is that today many of us moviegoers stay in urban cities,' reasons Shakun, 'We dress in a certain way and people around us have seen an urban upbringing too. Yes, filmmakers tend to stereotype urban atmosphere but if we try hard, we can write such characters in 100 different ways. This is exactly the case in EK MAIN AUR EKK TU as well. Yes, it is a romcom with definite Western sensibilities to it. However for the Indian audience, it is going to be a unique experience for sure.''

We just hope that the promise is indeed kept once this Karan Johar production releases all over on 10th February.

Salman or Aamir- who will be cast in PAIYA remake?

Remakes like GHAJINI, READY, BODYGUARD, SINGHAM and WANTED have created history at the box-office. Aamir Khan, Salman Khan and Ajay Devgnclimbed greater heights of success with these blockbuster films. Even today, the trend of remakes is in full flow with KICK that stars Salman Khan and SON OF SARDAR, remake of MARYADA RAMANNA, which stars Ajay Devgn.

But there is one film that Bollywood stars seem to have missed. And that is PAIYA, another potential pot of gold for Bollywood with love from the South. The reason behind keeping Bollywood stars away from this big project is because director Linguswamy was waiting for South superstar Surya to play the lead in the Hindi version. However, since Surya is still stuck with his Tamil assignments (he has acted in the original films which were later remade in Hindi- SINGHAM, GAJINI to name a few), Linguswamy has moved on to do four Tamil films with UTV.

But, now that Surya is busy with his Tamil films, Bollywood superstars can make the most of the opportunity. Aamir Khan and Salman Khan have been successful whenever it came to remakes. Ajay Devgn also stands a chance to grab a role in PAIYA, a super hit film that made over Rs. 50 crore business in Tamil with 20 crore overseas and over 20 crore for its Telugu version AWAARA.

Written and directed by N. Linguswamy, PAIYA is about the interesting journey of a young couple. A beautiful young woman who is an IT employee asks a jobless, happy-go-lucky man to escort her from Bangalore to Mumbai. The man incidentally is in love with her. The film revolves around the various obstacles that the couple faces during their trip, some bitter-sweet experiences and the manner in which they bond together during the journey - a typical story that has the potential to become a successful film in Bollywood.

Grapevine has it that Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone were also cast for this film by Director Linguswamy but post their break-up, the on-screen jodiaspirations came to an end as well.

Now, the biggest question that arises is that who will be the next Jodi in PAIYA? It is said that the mighty Khans are said to be potential contenders for the lead role as makers are checking out the film with them in mind as well.

In Bollywood, nothing matters more than money. And going on a world tour is one of the ways for our stars to mint money. This is one occasion when even adversaries and competitors forget their rivalry and ex lovers get back together for a common cause! No one exemplifies this better than Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif who have apparently decided to put behind their differences and come on stage for a show later this year.

Last year when Ranbir and Kat split, the former’s much-hyped World Tour suffered collateral damage as it had to be called off at the nth hour. Katrina refused to dance with Ranbir and her name had to be struck off from the lineup, though she had nudged out Deepika Padukone and Sonam Kapoor from the tour in the first place. Kat had even refused Ayan Mukherjee’s film with her former lover (which eventually landed in Deepika’s lap).

But the past year has seen a lot of change in both Ranbir and Kat. They have both decided to work together professionally and now have been roped in for a World Tour beginning this August to the UK, US and Canada.

But will she actually share the stage with Ranbir remains to be seen as the modalities are still being worked out. Whatever be the result, the World Tour is the first step towards a thaw in their relationship. Will it lead to more? Watch this space.

Sanjay Gupta has thrown him out of 'Shootout At Wadala'

Whatever little magic Vivek was hoping to create with ‘Shootout At Wadala,’ to revive his career seems to have fizzled out. The latest rumour is that the 35-year-old actor has been fired from the coveted project directed by Sanjay Gupta and produced by Ekta Kapoor.

Apparently, the reason behind Sanjay’s decision was that he was tired of waiting for Vivek’s confirmation about being part of ‘Shootout…’ Gupta recently vented to a tabloid that Vivek tested his patience by making him wait for a positive reply from him. He also expressed that in the end he couldn’t put up with the actor’s behaviour and asked him to return the script.

Ekta on her part tried to play down the episode. She simply put the blame on Sanjay Gupta’s shoulders saying the director wanted a new face for the role.

Of course, Vivek didn’t accept that he was fired. When contacted he said he trotted out the most common excuse by actors – lack of dates. Yes, we believe you Vivek!

‘Shootout At Wadala,’ is set to go on the floors by February 2012. The movie which is a crime drama will feature Anil Kapoor and John Abraham in challenging roles.

It looks like Nikhil Advani’s untitled project starring Arjun Rampal has hit the skids now as the director and the hero of the project can’t decide who the leading lady should be.

Rumour has it that Nikhil wanted Amy Jackson who previously acted in the regional film ‘Madrasapattinam’ and will be in seen in the Prateik-starrer ‘Ek Deewana Tha,’ to romance super hottie Arjun Rampal in his upcoming movie. Arjun on the other hand, still basking in the appreciation he got for SRK’s ‘Ra.One’ was particular that the ‘Rockstar’ heroine Nargis Fakhri should be paired opposite him.

A source said that Arjun’s demand seemed unreasonable because Nargis’ debut performance in ‘Rockstar’ was panned by both critics and the audience. The source also added that casting Nargis wasn’t a good idea as the actress had not signed on any films after ‘Rockstar’ which only proved that she wasn’t in demand.

Apparently, Arjun put in a good word about the actress to UTV Motion Pictures, the producers of the film. And no doubt, it is believed that Arjun may have his way because he has had good relations with UTV in the past, working in films such as ‘Rajneeti’ ‘Heroine’ and ‘We are Family.’
Now English model Amy Jackson may be the latest rage in T’town with two films already in her kitty but it looks like it takes a woman of South Asian origin to impress the ‘Ra.One’ Arjun!

Zaheer Khan to wed soon?

The cricketer, Zaheer Khan, is all set to take the plunge!

Bollywood and cricket are going to merge again this March as Zaheer Khan is said to tie the knot with the 27-year-old beauty Isha Sharvani.
A source, close to the couple confirmed the news to a tabloid by saying that the wedding will take place in the last week of March and that the reception would be a grand affair. Apparently, Zaheer is acting on a promise he gave to his parents last year that he would embark on married life soon after the World Cup. With India winning the World and with Zaheer being showered with accolades for being the highest wicket taker in the entire series, it seemed inevitable that Zaheer and Isha would be husband and wife sooner or later.

The source said that the families of the couple had already finalised the wedding details and a public announcement could be made soon after Zaheer returned from the ongoing Australian tour. In case the March wedding is stalled due to unforeseen circumstances then the next date for the wedding would be in October.
The couple’s love story began in 2005 when Isha, a popular and acclaimed dancer, with six films to her credit (including ‘Kisna’ and ‘Luck by Chance’) performed at a cricketing event. From then on the couple kept running into each other at various parties until finally Zaheer fell for her. Isha and Zaheer then carried on a passionate relationship for two years before they fell out of love in 2007.

Fate brought them together again in 2010 and sure enough sparks flew between them. Zaheer impressed his ladylove by buying a new apartment in Mumbai where Isha moved in immediately. It was then that they ironed out their differences and decided it was the right time to legalise their relationship. Nonetheless, when Isha and Zaheer were recently approached for comment they both were tightlipped about their wedding plans.
We can excuse the couple for not talking to the media but if they do keep mum on the big day while taking their wedding vows, (well that will make eye-catching news altogether) then the media shall not feel upset about it at all!

Freida Pinto may have spent 24 years of her life growing up in Mumbai but in the past few years, post the mind-boggling success of Danny Boyle’s ‘Slumdog Millionaire,’ the actress has hardly had a glimpse of the city. Freida hopes to change that this March by moving to Mumbai.

The 27-year-old Pinto spoke to a tabloid recently and said that she was in love with Mumbai and could never think of leaving it. Freida is planning a March trip for reasons other than just to meet her parents and sister who are settled in Mumbai. Apparently she is looking forward to promoting her upcoming movie ‘Trishna,’ directed by Michael Winterbottom (‘A Mighty Heart’) which also stars B’wood couple Kalki Kochelin and her director husband Anurag Kashyap.

When Freida was asked why she chose to stay away from B’wood projects the actress retorted that ‘B’wood film’ was just a tag and that movies made in B’wood were essentially Indian films. Similarly just because ‘Trishna’ was directed by an English man didn’t make it a Hollywood film. It was 100 per cent an Indian film based in Rajasthan.

The petite beauty, who starred in other H’wood projects such as ‘Black Gold’ with Antonio Banderas, ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ and Woody Allen’s ‘You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger,’ said that she would love to work with Indian directors whose sensibility appealed to her. And guess who are the directors on her wish list - Vishal Bhardwaj (‘7 Khoon Maaf,’ ‘Kaminey’), Dibakar Banerjee (‘Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!’) and Anurag Kashyap who is interestingly also the co-producer of ‘Trishna’.

Hrithik maybe one of B’wood’s most successful actors with a huge fan-following but he recently surprised everyone when he revealed that he battled with depression. It is no secret that the 38-year-old Hrithik faced a tough time last year, putting up with niggling injuries and a damaged back.
But the real problems for Hrithik started when he started planning for ‘Krrish’. Though his father Rakesh Roshan told him that they could start filming ‘Krrish 2’ in 2013 after his injuries were healed, Hrithik felt they must start the project immediately, lest it remain on the backburner forever.

But he soon realised that the task was easier said than done. The role proved to be a huge challenge because he had to get into the right shape. Apparently, the actor was overweight by over 10 kilos and couldn’t fit into his superhero costume for ‘Krrish 2’. Moreover, he feared with a slip disc he wouldn’t ever be able to perform stunts. The light-eyed actor says he felt extremely depressed and took to smoking. At one point of time, he even felt unworthy of starring in the movie.

So what pulled him out of the negative mood? Apparently, it was the script of ‘Krrish 2’ was “just amazing” and he says he realised how much people, especially kids loved him in the previous movies. This motivated him to hire the best trainers in the US and give himself 10 weeks to make a transformation.

Great going Hrithik! It looks like we have more of you to drool over.

Akshay Kumar supports MS Dhoni: Everyone has a bad phase

Actor Akshay Kumar, coming out in support of Mahendra Singh Dhoni after the India captain received criticism over his bad performance in the Australia series, said everyone has to face good and bad phases in life.

"Dhoni, don't worry, true lovers of Indian cricket are behind you in every step of the way man. Everyone's gotta hit Rock Bottom, it's the only way one can storm it back to the Top... just think about the series, day by day, dear friend. Everything else comes later dude... (sic)," the 44-year-old posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.

"Everyone let's back the Boyz we love so much, come on, none of us are perfect at our jobs everyday of the month, it's support they need not criticism. Do what you can Boyz, India's waiting for you & always with you," he further posted.

India lost the third test against Australia by an innings and 37 runs in Perth Sunday and before that they faced a whitewash in England last year.

The bad performance on the field has upset the cricket fans and others who are blaming Dhoni's laid-back attitude for the losses.

Suspense over Sunny Leone starring in 'Jism 2'

While there has been much speculation on Indian Canadian porn star Sunny Leone starring in "Jism 2", the film's producer Pooja Bhatt has decided to keep everyone guessing.

"I will announce whether Sunny Leone is in the movie or not, but until then, keep guessing, " Pooja told reporters.

Mahesh Bhatt had offered the movie to Sunny while she was participating in the reality show "Bigg Boss 5".

Meanwhile, Pooja said she was happy that a saucy poster of "Jism 2" has been well received.

"I am glad that curiosity has increased so soon. I assure you, we will take this curiosity to the peak. I will not let the heat die down because 'Jism 2' is going to create a lot more 'jadoo' and lot more 'nasha', " Pooja added.

She also said "Jism 2" will be totally different from the previous movie.

"'Jism' and 'Jism 2' are different. You should not compare one hand with the other. So just wait and watch, " she said.

Times have changed. Shiney has been to hell and back. And Preity who had apparently vowed to stay away from all things Shiney, has now decided to promote their film together.

Confirming this Shiney says, “We’re looking at May or June for release because before that Preity is busy with the IPL. As far as I’m concerned there was never any problem with Preity.

She’s a lovely person. When I was going through my legal stress she had sent across a message of support. I’ve finished my dubbing for Harr Pal and so has she.

We will now work towards releasing the film. It’s an important film for both of us, and for the director Jahnu Baruah who’s internationally recognized. ”

Shiney refuses to accept that the makers of his stalled films were playing the wait-and-watch film. “I don’t think my personal problems affect my work. People won’t watch Ghost or Harr Pal because they feel sympathetic towards me. Neither will they stay away because they dislike me. ”

Remind him that leading ladies invariably had a problem working with him and Shiney responds softly, “I was and I continue to be a professional on the sets. The problem, as you describe it, was never from my side.

I got along with all my leading ladies from Chitrangda to Sushmita Sen to Preity Zinta and Kangna. In fact Kangna has gone on record after my troubles to say she would gladly work with me again.

So I don’t know who were the leading ladies who had a problem with me. I was always fully focused on that stretch of time between ‘action’ and ‘cut’. And I still am. ”

Shiney has been given back his passport. And he is free to travel anywhere he wishes.

He divides his time between Mumbai and Delhi. He and his supremely supportive spouse Anupam are now closer together than ever before.

“My only concern during those dark days in prison was my wife and daughter’s safety. In fact when all hell broke out I remember my first thought was, ‘Will this effect my child’s future?’.

I’ve survived because of God and my wife. And she withstood the ordeal because of my parents and her parents.

My parents and my in-laws live close to each other in Delhi. So the family circle never wavered in my absence. ”

Shiney has truly put the stress of conviction and incarceration behind him for now.

“If you ask me, my life is back to normal for now. I went to innumerable cities to promote my latest film. Nowhere was I asked about my legal crisis. It’s only now when you ask me about it that I’m reminded of the sword that hangs over my head. ”

Shiney says the thought of returning to jail is inconceivable.

“The first time I didn’t know what lay in store for me. Now I do. It’s like your car rams into a truck.

You spend months in hospital and then when you’ve recovered you’re told you’ve to get back into that car and get rammed by that truck again. ”

Ali Zafar is a Good Harami: Aditi Rao Hydari

From a character artist in "Delhi 6" to a sexy mother in "Yeh Sali Zindagi", Aditi Rao Hydari is getting younger with her roles. Now she is gearing up for her latest romantic comedy "London, Paris, New York", in which she is seen romancing "naughty" Pakistani singer-actor Ali Zafar.

"I really really think Ali is a good human being but he is very naughty and that is why I say, 'Ali is a good harami', " Aditi told reporters at the first look launch of "London, Paris, New York" here.

Ali, who was also present there, reacted to to this positively and said: "Aditi has given a new tag to me and I will have to live with it forever."

Ali is indeed an all rounder. He is not just the protagonist in the film, he has also sung and composed music for the movie.

"When I write, I am in that phase. When I compose, I am a composer. When I am singing, I am a singer. These are the different roles that I play and I am very convenient stepping into each roles, " he said.

Debutant director Anu Menon's "London, Paris, New York", scheduled to release March 2, is about the journey of Aditi and Ali.

Is war brewing between Rajni's daughters Aishwaryaa and Soundarya?

The superstar's daughters -- Aishwaryaa and Soundarya -- apparently plan to release the Hindi version of their respective films at the same time

Rajnikanth, as his fans may like to believe, has superhuman powers. But when it comes to his two daughters, the superstar (like most parents) seems to have no control.

Sibling bonding be damned! Both his daughters Aishwaryaa and Soundarya are locked in a race to apparently release the Hindi version of their respective Tamil films around the same time, irrespective of the loss in profits one may cause to the other.

While news of Soundarya's Kochadaiyyan, featuring Rajnikanth himself, being dubbed from Tamil to Hindi for a wider audience is already known, now we hear that Aishwaryaa's 3, better known for its iconic Kolaveri Di song by her singer/actor husband Dhanush, will also be dubbed in Hindi to release along with its Tamil version.

Dhanush confirms, "Yes, I am planning to dub 3 in Hindi and release it along with the Tamil version. It's a thriller; there's nothing culture-specific about it."

The decision, apparently, was taken earlier this month in the light of Kolaveri Di's unprecedented success. When the song was shot for the film last week, everyone in the crew was convinced the film had the potential to launch Dhanush in Bollywood.

Says a source, "Everyone connected with the project felt that a Hindi version of 3 was the need of the hour especially with its track Kolaveri di busting charts across the world.

Then the way the song was shot, it sounded even better than expected. Only Dhanush had misgivings. He felt his Bollywood debut should not be a dubbed Tamil film. But he was out voted by the rest of the 3 team."

It seems like Aishwaryaa's 3 has an edge to the finishing line, as the romantic portions featuring Rajnikanth are yet to be shot in Kochadaiyyan.

Interestingly when we asked Dhanush if he would like to work with his sister-in-law Soundarya at some point, he dismissed the idea saying, ""She is not my kind of a director."

If you've caught a couple of small screen actresses with swollen lips of late, don't be alarmed.

You are not imagining things. Following in the footsteps of Bollywood's 'smoochilicious' babes, several TV actresses are also going under the knife to get that perfect pout.

Honest confession

The latest to join the list is Eva Grover who plays Niharika Kapoor in Bade Achche Lagte Hai. Surprisingly, unlike most of our big screen stars, Eva is candid about her lip job.

She admits, "I had thin upper lips and I wanted a fuller mouth. I met this doctor who suggested that I go under the knife. The results have been fabulous and I have finally got the lips I've always yearned for."

The actress couldn't be happier with the results. "People are telling me that I am looking sexier and more beautiful. Also, dark and shocking lip shades are most becoming on the pout. I am enjoying every bit of flaunting my shapely lips now, " she says.

Model and actress Gauhar Khan is yet another who attempted to change the shape of her lips. Unfortunately, for her, the results were disastrous. "I wanted to try the temporary lip augmentation procedure, which basically lasts for not more than three to four hours.



However, I didn't like the way it looked at all and hence the shoot of my show Khan Sisters had to be stalled. I was in shock and wasn't comfortable being captured on camera during that time, " Gauhar had said in a press statement.

Younger look

It's not just restricted to the lips though. Many actresses are opting for several other nip and tuck procedures too. On condition of anonymity, an actress admitted that she, too, had undergone liposuction.

She felt that her face looked too full on screen and hence had the fat deposits under her cheeks removed with surgery. Though painful, she claims it helped her face look younger and more beautiful.

With news of more and more cosmetic surgeries coming out of the closet, we wonder if it's time to bid adieu to the concept of natural beauty.
