Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D'Souza Friday tied the knot at a lavish ceremony in a five-star hotel here. Bollywood wishes "happiness" and "eternal bliss" to the newlyweds.

The couple tied the knot in the presence of family and close friends in a typical Maharashtrian wedding ceremony.

Riteish-Genelia's sangeet ceremony video leaked

The sangeet ceremony of Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D'Souza saw the who's who of Bollywood dancing, whistling and having a gala time at the function. The video of the ceremony, which was leaked online, had the biggies of Bollywood grooving to popular Bollywood songs. Not only the celebs invited for the ceremony, but Riteish and Genelia were also seen dancing and smiling through out.

The video sees Bollywood celebs Karan Johar, Ashish Chowdhary, Aftab Shivdasani, Sanjay Kapoor, and of course the couple Riteish and Genelia enjoying to their fullest.

Aamir Khan is the maestro of film industry: Kareena

Kareena Kapoor, who has earlier worked with Aamir Khan and will now be seen with his nephew Imran Khan in "Ek Main Aur Ek Tu", feels Aamir is the maestro of the film industry.

"Aamir's body of work is unbelievable. He is the maestro of the industry and Imran is just starting out. Working with Imran is a lot of fun. I think he is a marvellous actor and I hope we get to work together in the future too," the 31-year-old actress said.

Kareena, who is ready with her next two films "Ek Main Aur EK Tu" and "Agent Vinod" is, however, missing from the promotions of the latter movie.

She said her priority was "Ek Main Aur Ek Tu" at the moment.

"Right now 'Ek Main Aur Ek Tu' is in the priority. 'Agent Vinod' is like an action thriller and you know... let Saif do the talking and I think he has been out for the media for a while. You enjoy him for a while and may be I will step in before the film releases," she said.

Ameesha to turn item girl

The decision was taken after Yash Chopra recently complimented the actress on her dancing prowess.

Ameesha Patel is all set to carve a new space for herself in Bollywood. The actress is very keen to do item numbers in not only her own productions but also for other banners.

At the recently held Apsara awards, Amesha Patel was the surprise performer. In fact given all the applause pouring in from not just the organisers at Wizcraft, but even Yash Chopra personally praising her for her performance, Ameesha now is keen to do more item numbers.

Interestingly just with one day's practice, the actress danced to the tracks Chikni Chameli and Ooh La La on the stage. Ameesha who will leave for Delhi soon will also perform on these songs at a high profile wedding.

And it's not just for her dancing skills, but Ameesha is also being paid a lot of compliments lately for her looks. The directors of Race - Abbas and Mustan - recently told her that when they saw her on the sets of Race 2, they felt that she had done a wonderful job of maintaining herself over the years.

In fact they also said that it looked like Ameesha had walked straight from the sets of Humraaz to the sets of their film. The director duo are said to have also appreciated her for her performance in the film. Looks like a rocking start for the actress this year.

Akshay's HOUSEFULL 2 to break Hrithik's AGNEEPATH record

Sajid Khan and Sajid Nadiadwala have done their bit to end Shahrukh Khan-Shirish Kunder-Farah Khan fracas and now they have decided to some real business. Plans are already in place for HOUSEFULL 2 and they are aiming for nothing less than a record start.

While Karan Johar and Hrithik Roshan have done it with AGNEEPATH, hence proving that Salman Khan isn't the only one to stake claim on opening day collections, what isn't being ignored is the fact that Republic Day holiday had a huge contribution to make in the film registering a mind boggling opening. No wonder, HOUSEFULL 2 too has taken cue from that and expecting a great start with the release coinciding with holiday season.

''Record opening weekend collection of films like BODYGUARD (Eid),RA.ONE (Diwali), DON 2 (Christmas) and now AGNEEPATH (Republic Day) has established quite strongly that if there is a holiday that falls in and around the release date, the collections get a major push. The end result could be anything as it depends on the overall packaging and the actual content of the film. However all the important opening weekend is taken care of as holiday lends a major advantage. In any case most of the films are now dependent on their opening weekend and a holiday is just like a cherry on the top,'' says an insider.

There is enough evidence to back this claim because each of the aforementioned films has collected over 100 crores at the box office and now AGNEEPATH too is all set to do that. No wonder, Sajid Nadiadwala is also pitching his multi-starrer HOUSEFULL 2 as a biggie that would embark on a record breaking start. With the film releasing over an extended four day long weekend which is made of holidays (Thursday 5th April is Mahavir Jayanti and 6th April is Good Friday), sky is the limit for it if the word of mouth catches on in a big way.

Gali Gali Chor Hai

Starring Akshaye Khanna, Sriya Saran, Satish Kaushik, Mugdha Godse, Anu Kapoor

While credit must be given to writer-director Rumy Jaffery for focusing on the issue of corruption noble intentions don’t necessarily make a notable work of art. Certainly Gali Gali Chor Hai(GGCH) must have sounded amusing and topical on paper.It is a savagely stinging satire on the harassment of the average law-abiding middleclass man, played with arresting earnestness by Akshaye Khanna, in the hands of various touts, middlemen, law enforcers, goons and politicians all of whom infest the tranquil city of Bhopal with the destructive determination of termites eating into a ‘system’ that has long ceased to be if any consequence , moral or ethical.

While the script has some sparkling vignettes and scenes taken from the portrait of a common man trapped in the wheels of a fluctuating fortune, the treatment of the theme of corruption is staid, prosaic uninspiring and frequently bland. The screenplay unfolds in segments and episodes that could belong to a long-running government-sponsored serial on Doordarshan, made with the express purpose of cleaning the bureaucracy’s image.

Lamentably, for all his sincerity, Akshay Khanna’s Bharat remains clueless about what the script hopes to achieve by showing the character running in and out of police stations and court premises, except to project the helplessness of the common man into a script that seeks to desperately extract creative juices out of the bourgeois desperation which has baffled, bewildered, frustrated and destroyed the under-privileged classes the world over.

Sadly the satire doesn’t evoke any empathy for the common hero of this film who is sucked into the vicious vortex of bribery and palm-greasing for no seeming reason except his political innocence.Like Shyam Benegal’s last satirical outing Well Done, Abba this film forgets to oil its joints which creak in protest each time the hero shrieks in protest.


The problem with Jaffrey’s film is its dry almost clinical treatment of the theme of corruption and the Common Man. While the ambience, characters and the plight of our hero Bharat seem authentic, the languid movement of the story suggests a far less involving sequence of events than what we set out to witness when we sat down for a film.

Don’t rub your hands in anticipation when you sit down to watch this ode to corruption.In Singham the slap sounded far more musical to the ears.Yes, there are stray amusing moments in GGCH. But by the time Bharat’s slap on the face of the ‘system’ occurs it’s a case of too little, too late.

And what on earth is that item song with Veena Malik lighting up her vital statistics with Christmas bulbs. A symbol of the common man’s dream gone bust?

Sorry,but the original Bharat, Manoj Kumar did the anti-corruption theme much more interestingly in Roti Kapada Aur Makaan. You have to bribe the audience to watch the characters getting high on the anti-corruption theme of this film.

Me and Prateik are very very close, Amy Jackson

Ever since Prateik Babbar and Amy Jackson started working for Gautam Menon's "Ek Deewana Tha", speculation about their relationship has been making rounds.

"Me and Prateik are very very close. We have shot for five months and obviously we had a lot of chemistry. How come we can't get romantic when you have such romantic songs?" Amy said.

Prateik said he was very comfortable with Amy on screen and off screen as well.

Latest reports say the two have been staying together for a while, and Prateik seems to be quite happy with these rumours.

"She is beautiful, isn't she? If there are speculations about me moving in with a beautiful girl then I am happy about it. But no, we haven't," the 25-year-old actor said.

The leading lady, who is starting her career with "Ek Deewana Tha", however believes she does not need support of any rumours to accelerate her career in showbiz.

"I came here with completely open arms. And now I have joined the film industry and I am loving every moment of it. My dedication towards it is at the highest peak. So I wouldn't use somebody because I believe I can become a hero on my own and I don't need any rumours to help me do that," she said.

Choose your Valentine with Imran, Kareena

They play a couple in their forthcoming romantic comedy "Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu", and now Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor are set to play cupid to those who are looking for a partner this Valentine's Day.

Imran-Kareena will be a part of the show Valentine Ball and help the boys and girls in finding their partners.

As many as 15 boys and 15 girls will participate in the contest and they will try to find their Valentine through a series of fun activities like speed dating and compatibility test with Imran and Kareena playing perfect hosts and doling out tips.

In the end, both the actors will select the most compatible couple and crown them as the Valentine King and Queen.

The event will take place Feb 5 in Mumbai and will be aired on UTV STARS Feb 10

Raja Choudhary arrested for drunken brawl

Rajasthan police Friday arrested small screen actor Raja Choudhary for getting into a brawl with the security guards of a private hospital under the influence of alcohol, said an official.

Choudhary, who became a familiar name after his appearance in the popular reality show "Big Boss 2", is accused of "disruption of peace".

He came here from Delhi Thursday and was staying at a relative's house in Chitrakoot area.

"Raja claims that he had come to the Fortis Hospital in Jawahar Circle area around 2 a.m. Friday to see a patient admitted here. He was in a car and completely under the influence of alcohol," ACP Rajendra Singh told IANS.

Police said that as he was drunk therefore the security guards did not allow him to enter the hospital.

"There was a police control room vehicle stationed outside the hospital. When the policemen there tried to intervene, he started misbehaving with them also," said an officer.

Raja has been taken into custody and brought to the Jawahar Circle police station. He is booked under section 151 of the criminal procedure code (CrPC) for disruption of peace.

The officer said he will be presented in court Friday evening.

However, Raja told media persons that "when I reached the hospital, I was thronged by my fans who were seeking autographs. However, I tried to avoid them. This led to a minor scuffle".

Priyamani-Sachiin follow SRK-Shirish into controversy

The media seems to be so obsessed with the Shah Rukh Khan-Shirish Kunder episode that it is fishing for similar stories to report, even if it amounts to imagining some! One such incident a prominent publication in Hyderabad has reported is about Aazaan actor Sachiin Joshi teasing Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) brand ambassador and Southern actress Priyamani in a Shirish Kunder-like “allegedly inebriated” state at a party. Luckily for Sachiin, the article doesn’t conjure up a ‘slap’.

Sachiin who plays cricket for Sohail Khan’s Mumbai Heroes has been globe-trotting from Australia to Maldives to States to Dubai off late. But the Hyderabad publication ‘insists’ he tried to “hold her hand” and “hug” Priyamani, rubbing the damsel’s “ego” the wrong way at a CCL after-party. The funny part is that the said article claims this inspite of quoting Priyamani’s mother in the same piece, stating that the actress was “busy shooting” and that “nothing like this has happened.”

Sachiin’s publicist Dale Bhagwagar also points out that the report is a figment of over-active imagination. “It’s a fabricated story. Someone is trying to use the media as a platform for personal gain or vendetta, trying to plug and plant false and fictional information in the form of a news story. The media should be wary of such people trying to cause malice by manipulating a journalist,” he says.

Last week, a Mumbai tabloid had also funnily reported that Sachiin Joshi was found strolling in “pink chaddis” at a Dubai hotel where CCL players were put up. “They were red chaddis and not pink and Sachiin was wearing them above his blue tights,” his publicist had joked then, comparing the young gun to a superhero; very much like the character he played in Aazaan.


Now, now! With this new Priyamani ‘story’, things are surely hotting up on the Sachiin front! Wonder if the writer should be ‘crowned’ the ‘king’ of sham! Shah Rukh-Shirish not withstanding, this even seems to be a perfect case for the Press Council chief Markandey Katju to comment on, before Sachiin Joshi emerges the new ‘Controversy Prince’ of Bollywood and cricketainment.
