Katrina cashes in on her net worth

Katrina cashes in on her net worthKatrina Kaif will be creating a website where distressed female folk can get help and support

'Tis the season to give and share, and it appears Katrina Kaif is planning to do just that by creating a website for distressed women, who need urgent and immediate help and support, but don't know where to take their problem to, for the most effective remedy.

Says a source close to the actress, "For a very long time Kat has been quietly helping her mother with all the philanthropic work that she does in Pondicherry, for deprived children.

Katrina feels an online helpline for women through a website would be a good idea.

Earlier she was in the midst of designing her own website. But at this point of time she feels a website devoted to women who are too embarrassed to discuss their distress on the phone and television, would be far more in-sync with what she feels is the correct way to use her strength on the internet."

Katrina, who was voted the most-searched personality on a popular search engine on the internet, says, "I am told I am ahead of people who have achieved a lot more than me. I really don't take that seriously.

Just being an Internet-favourite is not of much use unless you do something substantial with what you have. I am looking at other ways to carry forward the clout that my name might generate on the web. But it's too early to share my plans."

A noble gesture, but the cynics in us cannot help but notice that her film on domestic violence is also on the anvil. In February, this year, the actress had in fact also attended an event along with Saif Ali Khan, to spread awareness against domestic abuse.

Is it the Khan-daan's bit for going green? Or is it their version of the proverb: A bird in hand is better than two in the bush?

Weather plays a spoil sport for lovebirds Prateik and Amy Jackson

Weather plays a spoil sport for lovebirds Prateik and Amy Jackson'Ek Deewana Tha' actors missed an opportunity to tour the Taj Mahal together due to bad weather conditions

Prateik wanted to show his sweetheart Amy Jackson the iconic monument of love, Taj Mahal. However, the Weather Gods played spoilsports. The co-stars became extremely close while shooting for Gautham Menon's next, the remake of a South film.

A source from the crew informs, "Both, Prateik and Amy got very excited when they heard that the music of the film was going to be launched at Taj Mahal, one of the most beautiful and romantic destinations in the world that symbolises romance.

The actors had requested the makers if they could stay back and have a guided tour of the monument. Both had not visited the Taj before and this was an ideal opportunity."

But unfortunately due to the fog in Delhi and Agra, the two reached the spot quite late. Says a source, "Due to the fog and bad weather conditions they couldn't make it to the launch on time.

When they reached there, the entry to Taj Mahal was just about closing but the authorities were very supportive and let them go in, but for very little time. Consequently, Prateik couldn't show Amy the entire place properly."

Vijay Singh of Fox Star Studios says, "The entire young brigade including Prateik and Amy wanted to take the tour but due to weather conditions we got delayed. We shall do it another time." Better luck next time, then.

''See, the USP of the film is Abbas-Mustan. Yes, we all know that since it is based on THE ITALIAN JOB, it is a heist belonging to thriller genre. However we have gone beyond that in our version,'' says Bipasha. ''I can go on record to say that the kind of action which we have here is much bigger than that of THE ITALIAN JOB. The story has many sub plots with several new characters,'' the actress added.

While one waits for all the action to unfold on screen, Bipasha is really excited for the film as the countdown begins. She says, ''I have been in celebration mood ever since the First Look of the film came out. We arrived with a big bang and the moment my bikini picture was revealed, there were hundreds of SMSs that came my way which made me feel as if the film has already released. Ever since then, the momentum has only increased.''

Well, we too are waiting for some good times indeed as PLAYERS releases all over on 6th January 2012.

Rishi Kapoor wasn't willing to turn negative for AGNEEPATH

Contrary to popular misconception, it was neither Hrithik Roshan nor Sanjay Duttwho was the most difficult to be cast in AGNEEPATH. Instead, it was Rishi Kapoor who kept Karan Johar waiting for over 100 days before consenting to do the film where he would be seen in an out and out negative role.

"Rishiji plays 'Rauf Lala' in the film and those who have seen Amitabh Bachchan's version of AGNEEPATH would remember that there was no such character in the original. When director Karan Malhotra approached Rishiji with this character, he was simply shocked. Though he has played a villain in KAL KISSNE DEKHA and BOL RADHA BOL, it still wasn't as menacing as AGNEEPATH. He flatly refused because he was unsure if he would be able to do justice to the film," says a close associate of Karan.

Though he was sure about his capabilities, he wondered whether audience would be willing to accept him as a villain.

"Karan Malhotra was insistent though that he had to step into this role. However whenever he used to talk to Rishiji about this, he used to tick him off stating that his inclusion may end up harming the film, more so since audience would be fine with Hrithik and Dutt enacting Vijay Deenanath Chauhan and Kaancha Cheena but not Rishi Kapoor as Rauf Lala. It was only after the young director continued with his attempts at convincing him for months at stretch that he finally said 'yes' to playing the character," he continues.
As expected from the veteran actor, when he took on the role, he came up with a convincing act that ended up shocking both the Karans.

Says Karan Malhotra, the director of the film, "He is every bit the Rauf Lala that I had written. He was the most difficult to be cast in the film but his performance speaks for himself. Trust me; it is going to shock a lot of people, especially those who are familiar with his extensive body of work."

JOHN ABRAHAM and HRITHIK ROSHAN
