Aishwarya Rai Bachchan may have kept herself busy with all the motherly duties post her delivery and was missing from many big Bollywood events. But, the gorgeous actress attended Ritesh Deshmukh and Genelia D'Souza's wedding reception held at Hotel Grand Hyatt.

The gorgeous actress wore a beautiful green-blue 'anarkali' dress, a Manish Malhotra creation. However what caught our attention was Aishwarya's chubbiness, which she obviously acquired due to her motherhood. Nevertheless, the lady still looked dazzling as ever.

She arrived at the venue with her paa-in-law Amitabh Bachchan and maa-in-lawJaya Bachchan. Hubby Abhishek Bachchan was missing from the event.

Hopefully the lady makes more public appearances for her fans!

Veena Malik doesn`t represent entire Pakistan: Ali Zafar

Veena Malik doesn`t represent entire Pakistan: Ali ZafarPakistani actress Veena Malik is controversy's favourite child but it would be unfair to judge the entire country on the basis of what she does in India, actor-singer Ali Zafar says.

"You have to understand that she's an individual and you can't judge the entire community on the basis of one person's behaviour. You shouldn't even judge Pakistan through me. The whole Pakistan is not like Ali Zafar or Veena Malik," Ali told IANS.

"And such individuals are there in very entertainment industry. In India also there are women who ride on controversies. It happens everywhere. It happens even in Hollywood," he added.

Veena came to limelight after her link up with tainted Pakistani bowler Mohammad Asif. She rose to fame in India after appearing in the fourth season of controversial reality show "Bigg Boss".

Ever since she has been making headlines for her alleged link up with her "Bigg Boss" inmate, actor Ashmit Patel, or her sudden disappearance while shooting for the Bollywood movie "Mumbai 125 kilometres".

Ali says he makes sure he doesn't do anything that gives a bad name to his country.

"I pay all my taxes. I make sure all paper work is in place and streamlined. I want to work in a manner so that I stay away from controversies," he said.

"Whatever films I do, I make sure that I don't do scenes or say dialogues or do stuff that could hurt people back home. In my capacity, I try and keep everyone happy but that's just me. Everybody has their own style of working," he added.

For Ali, being controversial is not the best method to boost one's career.

"It's unfortunate...I think one should avoid controversies as long as possible, they may help you in the short run, but I don't think those who are talented need controversies to boost their career," he said.

"It's always good to stay away so that you can work smoothly. You try to stay away from trouble for your own sake and for the sake of other people. I think anybody who comes from there (Pakistan) to here (India) should be cautious and conscious, otherwise it puts others into bad light," he added.

After making a name in his home country with his albums, Ali forayed into Bollywood with debutant director Abhishek Sharma's "Tere Bin Laden" (2010), which won him critical acclaim from all over.

He was later seen in Yash Raj's "Mere Brother Ki Dulhan" and right now he is looking forward to the release of his new Hindi film "London Paris New York", which hits the silver screen March 2.

Ayesha fumes over misbehaviour of Kingfisher Airlines staff

Ayesha fumes over misbehaviour of Kingfisher Airlines staffActress Ayesha Takia has expressed her strong-worded displeasure over alleged misdemeanor on part of the ground staff of Kingfisher Airlines with her younger sister Natasha at Delhi airport this evening.

"The worst airline, Kingfisher!!!shockingly baddddddddddd airport staff behavior at Delhi airport with my sister. We are going to take serious action against this and go to court with it, let the law handle it, so that this does not happen to any girl again (sic)," the fuming actress tweeted.

"Is this how a girl alone at an airport gets treated by the staff of the airline she is flying. She is unwell and has a horrible backache, can't believe this happened to her right now. My heart is beating so fast with anger that a girl at an airport gets treated this way by airport staff! He is at the kingfisher counter (sic)," she said.

Throwing more light on the incident, Ayesha, who was paired opposite Salman Khan in Bollywood flick 'Wanted', said a staffer of the Kingfisher Airlines tore boarding pass of her younger sibling at the airport.

"Kingfisher staff Vinay Podwal just threatened and yelled at my sister saying he can throw anyone out and TORE her boarding pass! This disgustingly behaved Kingfisher staff called Vinay podwal just tore my sister's boarding pass and misbehaved with her. How can this happen? How dare this Vinay Podwal misbehave with a passenger and tear her boarding pass? It could be any one of u think about it (sic)," she said on the microblogging site.

Ayesha's tweet however is silent on the cause behind the incident. Responding to Ayesha's tweet, Sidhartha Mallya, son of Chairman of Kingfisher Airlines Vijay Mallya raised doubts over the actress' claim.

"Been getting tweets about Ayesha Takia & KFA. Not too sure who she is, an actor of some sorts?? But it seems something has upset her," Sidhartha Mallya tweeted.

"Don't know why Ayesha Takia is tweeting so much when she wasn't even present. There are always two sides to a story. Pipe down love," he said.

Veena Malik says she will star in British film

Veena Malik says she will star in British filmPakistani actress Veena Malik has revealed that she has been signed for a 'powerful' role in a British film.

"I am getting many offers from across the globe. Recently, a UK film team was in Dubai and I was shortlisting a few offers that would suit me. I have zeroed in on a few fashion projects and a film," the Mirror quoted her as telling a newspaper.

She added that she couldn't "reveal more at the moment".

The actress has always been at the centre of a controversy, with the latest being a co-actress accusing Malik of assaulting her in a fight scene for 'Mumbai 125 Kilometres'.

Malik faced an even bigger storm last year when ostensibly nude photos of her appeared on the cover of the Indian edition of FHM magazine. She also had the letters ISI stencilled on her arm, representing Pakistan's powerful spy agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence agency.

The pictures caused a huge uproar in Malik's home country with her reportedly receiving death threats, and her father saying that he had disowned her.

Although the magazine claimed that the photos were genuine, the actress said that they had airbrushed off the thong she was wearing when the pictures were shot.

Katrina getting too big for her boots?

Katrina getting too big for her boots? She is being accused of laying down a lot of rules apparently irking some industry folk. The actress defends herself...

Buzz about some of our top stars getting a little too demanding doesn't always come as a surprise. However, a few otherwise amiable actors too are following in the footsteps of their seniors.

And it's Katrina Kaif's name that is currently doing the rounds. Apparently, Kat has rubbed not just one but three Bollywood folk the wrong way.

Ousting cinematographer Ravi K Chandran?
According to the industry grapevine, apparently Katrina recently got ace cinematographer Ravi K Chandran replaced in a commercial.

Chandran recently tweeted about his ousting by a certain actress from the industry, which was followed by sympathising tweets from his followers, including Sonam Kapoor.

Buzz is that Katrina insisted on having good friend Ayananka Bose shoot the ad. Apparently, the actress' reasoning was that Bose shot her best from all angles. However, the ace cinematographer chose to maintain a dignified silence when we contacted him.

He said, "Nothing like that happened. It's a wrong story." When probed about the messages on his Twitter page, Chandran didn't respond.

Miffing Karan Johar?
Buzz was that Karan Johar didn't take it lightly when Katrina kept director Ayaan Mukerji waiting before finally saying no to his production Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani opposite Ranbir Kapoor.

An industry source points out, "That's when Ayaan and Karan cast Deepika Padukone in the movie. Karan wasn't too pleased. So to appease him, she instantly agreed to do the Chikni Chameli item song in Agneepath."

Saying no to Prakash Jha
To further make things right with KJo, Kat rejected Prakash Jha's Chakravyuh in favour of Karan's Dostana 2. The actress apparently wanted to keep her onscreen pairing with Abhishek Bachchan exclusive.

Our source adds, "Also, she was upset with reports of Prakashji praising Deepika's dubbing for Aarakshan. That's what prompted stories about how she had also dubbed very well for Raajneeti, specially her long speeches, besides working hard to give her best performance for the political drama."

Katrina says...
Talking about her alleged refusal to do Jha's next, Katrina says, "I've not yet been offered the film. So the question of refusing it for any reason doesn't arise."

About ousting Chandran, the actress who is currently shooting in Cuba for Ek Tha Tiger clarifies, "Recently I shot another ad with Raviji. I've never interfered in the setting of a team and never will. As a professional, I go to the sets, shoot the commercials and leave after pack-up."

About rejecting Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani and then doing her Chikni Chameli act to appease KJo, the actress says, "I don't know why it's being brought up again now. There are no problems between me and Ayaan or Karan."

Bollywood prays for Yuvraj Singh

As the news of cricket icon Yuvraj Singh being diagnosed with cancer spread, several Bollywood personalities cheered him and wished his recovery on twitter. Yuvraj had been diagnosed with cancer and is currently undergoing chemotherapy in the United States. The 30-year-old cricket superstar, known for his friendships with Bollywood stars, has been in the US since last month being treated for what was earlier claimed to be a non-malignant tumour in the lungs. But it was diagnosed as cancer and the star is undergoing chemotherapy.

Yuvraj Singh

"Shocked to learn of Yuvraj Singh down with cancer...Yuvraj if you read this, know that we all pray for you...All shall and will be well. Yuvraj, get up in the morning and say it out loud - "Everyday in every way I am getting better and better!!" You will," Amitabh Bachchan wrote on twitter.

"Yuvraj has done so much for Indian cricket. This world cup might not have happened without him. Let's pray for his recovery. Get well Yuvi," filmmaker Kunal Kohli said.

"Very upset to hear about Yuvraj! Let's pray for his recovery. I know he's a fighter and he'll win this match," actress Dia Mirza said.

To a reply on Yuvraj Singh's tweet, actor Abhishek Bachchan tweeted, "@yuvsingh09 thank you so much my brother. Get well soon. Big hug."

"I think it's unfair to speculate about Yuvraj's health till he speaks about it. Until then, hoping and praying he is up and active soon," actor Siddharth said.

"Sad to read about Yuvraj Singh. No one deserves to go through this. Wishing him a speedy recovery," CEO, Balaji Motion Pictures, Tanuj Garg said.

"Prayers for Yuvi," VJ, Nikhil Chinapa tweeted

Is Katrina getting too arrogant?

Rumours suggest she is irking a lot of industry bigwigs with her attitude

Katrina Kaif
Katrina Kaif

Katrina Kaif was always known for her amiable attitude and professionalism but of late, several stories of her alleged tantrums have been doing the rounds. Apparently, the actress has too many demands which is not going down well with some big names in the industry.

The first person who is reportedly miffed with her is cinematographer Ravi K Chandran. A tabloid reports that Katrina got the ace cinematographer replaced in a commercial because she wanted her friend Ayananka Bose to shoot it. Chandran then tweeted about his ousting by an actress though he refused to say who it was.

The second person who hasn’t taken too kindly to her new-found attitude is none other than Karan Johar as Kat kept dilly-dallying about director Ayaan Mukerji’s offer of ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’ opposite Ranbir Kapoor. She finally said no to the film. But when she realised that Karan wasn’t too pleased with her she allegedly agreed to the ‘Chikni Chameli’ number in ‘Agneepath’.

Katrina, sources say, even displeased Prakash Jha who had given her a great break in ‘Raajneeti’. She opted to do Karan’s ‘Dostana 2’ instead though the film has been delayed and most probably shelved.

However, when contacted, Katrina refuted all allegations. While she claimed she hadn’t received any offer from Prakash Jha to do his film, on Chandran’s outburst, she said she had no role to play in deciding the team. “I am shooting for shooting for another ad with him,” she was quoted. She also denied any problems with Karan Johar or Ayaan Mukherjee.

Well Kat needn’t worry. The stories and controversies only go to show her demand and popularity in Bollywood. After all, who doesn’t want to work with Katrina and it isn’t possible to please everyone all the time, isn’t it Kat?

Imran Khan

This year, he is set to open his account in a big way at the box office with ‘Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu’. On the personal front, recently he got his dream car – a custom-made red Ferrari. The special dinner has been arranged in honour of the visiting Prime Minister of the Republic of Mauritius Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam and his wife Veena Ramgoolam. Will Priyanka join the race?

Deepika had walked out of ‘Race 2’ leaving the film in lurch

Priyanka Chopra
Priyanka Chopra

The casting of ‘Race 2’, the sequel to the 2008 Abbas-Mustan thriller is fast turning out to be a game of musical chairs with actors walking out and others being signed in as replacement. The latest is that Deepika Padukone (who had been one of the first stars to be signed) has walked out after the film has already gone on floors. In fact, the movie had made news a few weeks ago because of its reported steamy scenes between Saif and Deepika.
The filmmakers are now in a quandary and producer Ramesh Taurani, we hear, has sent an SOS message to Priyanka Chopra requesting her to fill in for Deepika. Apparently, the actress has liked the script and is most likely to sign on the dotted line.

Incidentally, Priyanka had been considered for the role earlier too. In October 2011, when Deepy was approached she had told the producers that the dates of ‘Race 2’ clashed with her dates for Ayaan Mukherjee’s film with Ranbir Kapoor. That’s when Priyanka was summoned. But by the time PC gave her approval, Deepika sorted out her dates and said ‘yes’ to ‘Race 2’.

But now it appears that Deepika would rather concentrate on Ayaan’s film than this thriller. Has it got to do something with a certain Mr Kapoor with whom she is reportedly getting pally with again?

Meanwhile Priyanka, who has her plate full with ‘Krrish 3’ and ‘Barfee’ is seriously considering ‘Race 2.’ As they say, one actress’ loss is another’s gain in Bollywood. But with all the confusion, let’s hope the movie gets made!

Sonam: I am not dating anyone

The actress announces her single status loud and clear

Sonam Kapoor
Sonam Kapoor

It looks like a certain Punit Malhotra doesn’t exist in the life of Sonam Kapoor. The world might talk about their link-up but the ‘Mausam’ actress would have us believe she is still single. Sonam, it appears, wants to clear every controversy including her alleged animosity for Shahid Kapoor.

A few days ago it was reported that Sonam, who had worked in Punit’s directorial debut ‘I Hate Luv Storys’ (her only hit so far!) had turned down his next film because Shahid, her ‘Mausam’ co-star had been signed on as the male lead.

However, the actress took to twitter to shoot down all the reports: "I'm hearing the funniest rumours about myself! In Thailand, and all I can say is I'm on the floor laughing."
"Okay morning guys I'm not mad at Shahid Kapoor or Punit Malhotra and I'm not dating anyone! I'm minding my own business and working," she further tweeted.

Abhishek wants a film on climate change

Let’s hope he chooses a decent script this time!

Abhishek Bachchan
Abhishek Bachchan

Abhishek Bachchan is perhaps looking at newer ideas to prop up his flagging career. The actor whose last release, the thriller ‘Players’ was a flop, now wants to work in a socially conscious film on climate change. “I want to make a film about saving the environment and bring about a change. I don't know if anyone of you is willing to fund a movie like this, but I plan to act in it," Abhishek said at an event recently.

"The challenge is to get a story that is compelling enough for Indian audiences to see. I know there are one or two films like 'Day After Tomorrow' that have been successful in the West and people came out thinking what if this actually happens tomorrow," said Abhishek.

"If I make a film just talking about climate change, it would be boring to watch. The real challenge is to make a film that would be engrossing enough for the audiences to come out and watch and deal with the issues," he added.

Abhishek was honoured with the Green Globe award for his efforts towards creating a greener environment and he was due to receive the trophy from Hollywood superstar Arnold Schwarzenegger. However Arnold reportedly gave the function a miss and was seen enjoying the sights and sounds of Delhi!

Well, whether Abhishek acts in a film on climate change or a train heist, our only advice is – choose your script wisely!

Yuvraj Singh
Yuvraj Singh

Yuvraj Singh, known as much for his fiery performances on the cricket field as his eventful personal life, has been diagnosed with cancer. Earlier, it had been revealed that the 30-year-old was suffering from a tumour in his lungs, and now it’s been confirmed that the growth is malignant.

Apparently, the cricketer’s ailment was first misdiagnosed by an Indian hospital. Yuvraj is now being treated at the Cancer Research Institute in Boston, America.

It's shocking news for cricket fans, but the good news is that Yuvi will be better soon. The cricketer’s physiotherapist Dr Jatin Chaudhary has clarified that the illness is curable and that Yuvraj is likely to be fit again by May 2012.

Chaudhary added that the rare tumour, parts of which are just above the artery of Yuvraj’s heart, was detected in stage one itself. Chemotherapy sessions for Yuvi began after he reached the US on January 26, and he will not be requiring surgery. It is believed that his treatment should be completed by the end of March, after which he will undergo a CT scan to check his progress.

Yuvraj is a powerhouse on the field and was Player of the Tournament in the World Cup in 2011, which India won, with 362 runs, 15 wickets and four Man-of-the-Match awards.

He’s got a Bollywood connection too, often being seen at showbiz events – he was earlier in a relationship with actress Kim Sharma and was also linked to Deepika Padukone and Neha Dhupia.

From Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to Shah Rukh Khan, everyone was there

Meet Mr and Mrs Ritesh Deshmukh
Meet Mr and Mrs Ritesh Deshmukh

There’s nothing that brings Bollywood together like a big wedding, and Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza’s marriage and reception over February 3-4 2012 in Mumbai showed just that. As the long-time couple (they’d been seeing each other for eight years) tied the knot, T’town’s biggest names joined in the celebrations. From Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan to Kareena Kapoor and Aamir Khan, everyone was there.

Riteish and Genelia had a traditional Maharashtrian wedding on February 3 in Mumbai. The groom made his entry on a white horse in traditional style and also wore typical Maharashtrian headgear. He was obviously in great spirits, even tweeting about the marriage before and as it happened. Riteish first wrote that he just “saw the Last sunset as a Bachelor.”

Later, post wedding, the star posted a pic of himself and Genelia, both looking amazing, saying simply, “Mr and Mrs Deshmukh.”

Abhishek Bachchan was at the wedding with his mum Jaya, Shah Rukh Khan and Shahid Kapoor were there, and also on the guest list were many other stars including Ajay Devgn and Kajol.

The wedding was also attended by several bigwigs from the political and business world, all friends of Riteish’s politican dad Vilasrao Deshmukh. Maharashtra chief minister Prthviraj Chauhan and the Thackerays were among the guests as were the Ambanis and the Godrejs.

The wedding reception on February 4 was equally grand with Riteish looking handsome in a black bandhgala and Genelia absolutely stunning in a dark peach lehenga with a draped dupatta and heavy gold emboirdery all over the outfit.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan attended the reception, accompanied by Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan. Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan, Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao, Imran Khan and Avantika Malik, Anushka Sharma, Bipasha Basu, Madhuri Dixit, Kangna Ranaut, Rekha, Jacqueline Fernandes and Sajid Khan were among the other high-profile guests.

Later, Riteish and Genelia also had a Christian wedding at St Anne's Church in Mumbai.

Talaash is unlike other action films

Bollywood Masala Magazine chatted with Rani Mukherji when she was in the UAE to launch Radio Mirchi

Rani Mukherji

Rani Mukherji

As you tune into Radio Mirchi (97.3FM in Abu Dhabi, 88.8FM in Dubai and the Northern Emirates and 95.6FM in Al Ain) you may hear foot-tapping music and a million voices bursting out, but one voice that ensured the radio station was welcomed to a raucous applause in the UAE was none other than Rani Mukherji’s. Dressed in a beautiful sari, Rani was present at the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi along with Prakash Pandey, the CEO of Entertainment in India (ENIL, which owns Radio Mirchi), Sandeep Sud, the station’s programming head Sandeep Sud and Radio Mirchi’s partners Abu Dhabi Media group represented by CEO Malcolm Wall and director Abdul Rahman Awadh Al Harthi. Masala.com chatted up the ‘Talaash’ actress on movies, music and radio habits!

Did you listen to a lot of radio while growing up?
Not really. People may not know this but I was very studious as a kid. Books and friends took up most of my time. The only time I heard radio, being a Bengali, was during Durga Puja. My mother used to tune in to listen to prayers early in the morning.

If you were asked to manage a radio channel, what kind of programmes would you have on air?
I would ensure that programmes on music topped the list. Any kind of music is good since it soothes you, excites you and makes you want to dance. People listen to music on all occasions so I can’t think of anything better to beat that.

There are a lot of action movies this year in the pipeline from ‘Agent Vinod,’ ‘Dabangg 2,’ ‘Race 2,’ to ‘Tezz’. What makes your upcoming movie ‘Taalash’ with Aamir any different?
Well just because two movies have action scenes it doesn’t make them both similar! ‘Taalash’ has a different script altogether with psychological thrills.

You have another interesting movie coming up, ‘Aiyaa’ starring south Indian star Prithviraj. The movie has been in the news since you have dialogues in Marathi. How difficult was it to learn the language?
It wasn’t difficult at all. I was born and raised in Mumbai. I learnt Marathi in school for three year. Moreover, our household help used to talk to me in Marathi. Of course, it required time and effort to become fluent in the language. But this is what makes my role in ‘Aiyaa’ interesting and challenging!

Is there one fact about Rani Mukherji that her fans don’t know about?
I bake really good cakes!

Is Kangna trying to get even with Dutt

Is Kangna trying to get even with Dutt? There's more to Kangna Ranaut's decision to act in Shootout In Wadala in a role that was rejected by others. Normally most established actresses would shun such an offer but for Kangs this was also her way of giving it back to her estranged pal Sanjay Dutt.

Rival camps?
Shootout in Wadala is Dutt's bete noire Sanjay Gupta's flick. And anyone owing allegiance (or wanting to) to the star will not be part of a Gupta project.

Says a source, "This is a clear indication that she has now decided to move into the enemy's camp. Stars like Vidya Balan and Asin who were approached for the role, turned it down. But Kangna did not mind it at all."

Past woes
Shootout at Wadala, which revolves around the first encounter killing in the city in the early '80s was launched in August last year with John Abraham and Anil Kapoor.

It's had its share of casting woes involving Vivek Oberoi. Adds the source, "Kangna feels this is her way of getting even with Sanjay Dutt by bonding with his enemy."

Where it all started
At one time, Kangna was extremely close to both Sanjay and Maanayata Dutt.

But when she started making statements about her proximity to them and leaving behind their other close friend Ameesha Patel, things began souring.

Kangs then found herself being sidelines from her flick Rascal, which was produced by Dutt. She felt it was being done at Dutt's behest. As a result, she acted difficult while dubbing for Rascals.

Agneepath wipes out the rest

`Agneepath` wipes out the restThis week's releases, 'Gali Gali Chor Hai' and the others stood no chance as the Karan Johar film cruised full steam ahead.

Agneepath continues to blaze at the box office. On its second Friday, it netted more than what Gali Gali Chor Hai earned in the first three days since its release on February 3.

The Hrithik Roshan-Sanjay Dutt-Rishi Kapoor starrer crossed Rs 100 crore on Sunday.

Pegging the first weekend numbers of Gali Gali... at R 4 crore, veteran trade analyst Amod Mehra points out that in places like Nagpur and Amravati, the shows were cancelled.

"In many centres, there were no shows on Monday," he said, attributing it to lack of hype. "No saleable star cast, no proper publicity, no good music either. The title Gali Gali Chor Hai didn't attract any attention either."

Delhi based distributor Sanjay Ghai of Mukta Arts Ltd attributes the failure of the Akshaye Khanna film to zero audience interest. "People didn't seem even remotely curious to see the film."

Sharing the same sentiment, a head of a national multiplex chain sighed at Khanna's predicament. "Akshaye was a promising actor at one time.

But despite being a very good performer, his choice of subjects and lack of enthusiasm for promotion and publicity have affected his movies at the box office," he said, on condition of anonymity.

None of the English releases Love You To Death, Man On The Ledge, Journey 2 and Chronicle registered any numbers. On the contrary, The Descendants continued to generate interest despite a limited release.

"Noteworthy nominations at the forthcoming Oscars has kept the curiosity on the George Clooney film going," informs Prakhar Joshi, programming head at PVR Cinemas.
