This sudden closeness has triggered off questions on the growing comfort levels between Badshah and Chikni Chameli especially since his personal vanity van is generally out of bounds for anyone else. Vanity vans have often been sourceof brewing  friendships in the past.

So, one wonders what made Katrina use Shahrukh's vanity van?

Vivek Oberoi hesitates to kiss Mallika on screen!

It's no surprise that Bollywood bombshell Mallika Sherawat has no qualms with kissing on screen. But the same cannot be said about her KISMAT LUV PAISA DILLI (KLPD) co-star, Vivek Oberoi.

A source says, "When the kissing scenes were narrated, Mallika readily agreed but Vivek seemed a bit skeptical. It was then that Mallika eased the actor and said that it was no big deal and was essential for the script."

Buzz is also that Mallika wants to outdo Vidya Balan's oomph factor shown in THE DIRTY PICTURE. One of the kissing scenes of the film will be shot at the Buddha Gardens in Delhi which is a popular lovers spot in the city.

"The makers wanted to shoot the sequence at a place which people could recognize and be familiar with, hence Buddha Gardens was chosen," adds the source.

Producer Amit Chandrra and co-financer Kishen Choudhary have apparently made sure all required permissions are taken to avoid any disturbance while shooting since the sequence is vital for the storyline.

Checkout The Suave Agent Vinod

As the first look of much-hyped Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor starrer Agent Vinod is out, we find out some juicy details about the movie.

1. Slick Poster

The poster has a well-built Saif Ali Khan showing his back and side profile of his face. The bearded Khan has a pistol in right hand and looks extrelemly kempt.

Agent Vinod is an action spy film directed by Sriram Raghavan, who has also directed Ek Hasina Thi and Johnny Gaddar. The movie is set to hit the theatres on March 23, 2011.

2. Sizzling Kareena

Kareena Kapoor, who is currently the golden girl of Bollywood and a Khan favorite, is the female lead in her beau's film. She already has a few muti-crore movies under her belt. It remains to be seen if her star power works in this film as well.

Ditching the current item-number trend, Kareena has done a beautiful mujra in the movie. Choreographed by Saroj Khan, the song has Bebo in a red Manish Malhotra dress, and she looks dazzling.

3. On-Screen Chemistry

Saif & Kareena are madly in love with each other and share a terrific rapport in real life but their reel life chemistry hasn't done any wonders till now. In Kurbaan and Tashan they failed to ignite sparks on-screen, we hope Agent Vinod changes the belief.

4. Saifeena Wedding

A lot seems to be depending on the release of this film, most important being the impending wedding of these love birds.

It has been in news off late, that Saif Ali Khan would marry Kareena Kapoor only after the release of 'Agent Vinod'. Now whether it will be a double celebration, if the movie does well, is anyone's guess.

5. Saif's Home Production

The movie is being produced by Illuminati Films, which is Saif Ali Khan's home production. Its first release was Love Aaj Kal (starring Saif and Deepika) which was a huge hit.

6. Agneepath Connection

Agent Vinod's first teaser will apparently be showcased with Hrithik Roshan starrer Agneepathin theatres (releasing Jan 26, 2011). And not just this, there are 4 other films (Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, Talaash, Rowdy Rathore and Tezz) whose trailer will be shown with 'Agneepath'.

'Let's Not Be Sore Losers, ZNMD. Dirty Picture was better'

`Let`s Not Be Sore Losers, ZNMD. Dirty Picture was better`Sanjay Gupta is pissed off by the fact that his support of The Dirty Picture for Best Picture at the Screen awards, has been made to look like a personal attack on Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara (ZNMD).

Says Gupta vehemently, “I have nothing against Farhan or Zoya. I have always admired and appreciated their work. When I walked in to the meeting it was a hung jury.

I gave my vote to Dirty Picture not because of Fandango but because I believed The Dirty Picture was a better film as was also proven by the fact that it won 6 major awards including awards for acting, writing and most importantly direction. ”

Gupta says even jury head Shekhar Kapoor was convinced by the similarities between ZNMD and Fandango. “Shekhar Kapur in the first 30 seconds of watching the Fandango trailer said ‘Zindagi is out’.

A jury comprising of such eminent names such as Pradeep Sarkar, John Matthew, Bhanu Athaiya, Shekhar Kapoor, Rensil de silva etc. cannot be swayed because of anything incorrect that I say.

So let's not be sore losers and make me the villain. Please!”

Gupta’s final word on the topic. “Being a film maker I believe a film that wins best director deserves to win best film. And the entire jury voted for Milan Luthria, no contest. ”

Oprah Winfrey's bodyguards beat journalists

Oprah Winfrey`s bodyguards beat journalistsCelebrity talk show host Oprah Winfrey dragged herself into a controversy on Thursday as her bodyguard allegedly beat up few video journalists in Uttar Pradesh's Mathura city.

The incident occurred while the internationally acclaimed TV host was shooting for her show 'Next Chapter' in Mathura.

According to media reports, Oprah's bodyguards allegedly hit the video journalists when they tried to get close to her.

The American talk show host is in India for a week and Bollywood stars were seen spending some quality time with her.

Within few hours of arriving in Mumbai, Oprah headed towards the Bachchan residence, perhaps to meet the new arrival in the Bachchan family. After spending an hour there, superstar Amitabh Bachchan himself drove the lady to a private party hosted in her honor by acclaimed Indian socialite Parmeshwar Godrej.

Clad in a beautiful orange saree, believed to be gifted and then draped by Aishwarya, Oprah was accompanied by the entire Bachchan clan including son Abhishek and mother Jaya.

The party saw almost every big celebrity of tinsel town including Shahrukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Priety Zinta, Lara Dutta, Shilpa Shetty, Anil Kapoor, Imran Khan, Neha Dhupia, Sameera Reddy, Hrithik Roshan, Kangna Ranaut, Dino Morea, Ashutosh Gowariker, Javed Akhtar along with wife Shabana Azmi and children Farhan and Zoya Akhtar, Arjun Rampal among others.

The Item Heroine

The `item` HeroineIn an age dictated by short attention spans that demand continuous stimulation, is it any wonder A-list heroines are grabbing their three minutes of onscreen time?

Going by the film's promos, one can be forgiven for assuming that Katrina Kaif has a prominent role in the upcoming Karan Johar production, Agneepath.

Many of the film's trailers revolve around her undulations to the chartbuster Chikni Chameli. But the truth behind this impression is that Kaif is only making a special appearance in the film.

Of course, Kaif nails the showstopper, alternating spurts of vigorous athleticism with eroticised grace. Ergo the buzz.

Kaif enthuses, "The response to Chikni Chameli has been fun. It is a great song, and we have all had a blast doing it. I hope it goes on to become really popular." No worries there -- the song's popularity is already another bingo moment for the actor.

Little wonder then that the formula has taken Bollywood by storm. Kaif is only the latest in a line of A-list heroines to perk up a movie by performing a high-wattage dance, and then disappearing from the film.

Ash did it

The credit for this trend of top-drawer actresses doing item numbers (a colloquialism for an often raunchy and risque dance) in another heroine's film can be traced back to Aishwarya Rai's (sans the Bachchan tag at that time) hugely popular Kajraare number from Bunty Aur Babli, which almost ended up overshadowing leading lady Rani Mukerji's presence in the film.

Today, leading ladies have taken pride of place in the flurry of Munni-Sheila-Dhanno-Razia-Jalebibai-Silks.

Take the case of art film darling Chitrangda Singh, who is excited about her item number Kaafirana for Shirish Kunder's forthcoming Akshay Kumar-Sonakshi Sinha starrer Joker.

She says, "Kaafirana, my song in Joker, has been choreographed by Farah Khan and it's fantastic. I love dancing and though I am not really a trained dancer (I have just done two years of Kathak), dancing comes naturally to me. Kaafirana will change my image." She's learnt well.

Last year, Deepika Padukone's new-age hippy act, in the remake of the iconic number Dum maaro dum, which starred Bipasha Basu in the lead, had generated more buzz than even the alleged Rana Dagubatti-Basu affair at the time.

Kaif herself has done the item number act more than once -- remember the title track of Salman Khan-Kareena Kapoor starrer Bodyguard?

The fantastic response to the film's trailers featuring her had all journalists asking Kapoor if she was threatened, which she vehemently denied. "We are good friends and we belong to the same fraternity and we all live like a big family, " she had said.

Why actresses become items

So why is every actor worth her salt going down the item number route? Besides the obvious desire to change, enhance or simply tweak her image, a heroine finds item numbers attractive primarily because, in a male -dominated industry, she enjoys being the sole focus for those few minutes.

Karan Malhotra, director, Agneepath, reasons, "It is pretty clear why heroines choose to do these songs -- the impact is so huge that despite not being a part of the whole film, the actor is noticed in a big way."

New heroines too have wisened up to this strategy and try to follow their more successful predecessors.

Jacqueline Fernandez has moved on from doing an item number (Dhanno) in Sajid Khan's Housefull to being one of the heroines in its sequel. Mallika Sherawat has become a veritable special appearance specialist, managing to remain in the news eight years after Murder thanks to songs such as Maiyya Maiyya (Guru) and Razia Gundon Mein Phas Gayi (Thank You).

'Out' numbering the lead?

But how does the leading lady of the film feel when confronted with the knowledge that her thunder may well be stolen by some killer gyrations?

Kunder points out that logically, they cannot protest. "The actor is aware that since she plays a certain character in the film, she cannot suddenly break into a dance at some point in the script. But the film needs a sexy number so A-list actors are brought in as special dancers."

He adds, smiling, "The same actor may not get to do an item song in this film but she will do an item song in somebody else's film. It's a given so no one gets upset."

True to form, Priyanka Chopra claims complete equanimity about Kaif's Chameli act in her film, Agneepath.

"I am really excited. Her being a part of this film will add so much to the movie. I love the song and I've seen only bits of it because I have been busy shooting, but I'm sure she will be incredible."

Asin too claims not to mind that the item number from Ready, Character Dheela Hai, fell into newcomer Zarine Khan's lap. She rationalises, "The song introduces Salman's character. I don't think it would have made sense for me to do the song before my character has even been introduced in the film. But I got to dance to a Dhinka chika."

However, Asin isn't sure she would do a number in another heroine's film. "If I get a good song as a special appearance maybe I would consider it, but not really an item number in the sense of the word."

Don't be surprised, however, if dissenter Asin, forsakes the high ground, and joins the item dancers soon.

Leone came to the limelight in India with her stint in the fifth season of controversial reality show "Bigg Boss". She was offered a role in the movie when Bhatt entered the show briefly to meet her. But the nature of her role was kept under wraps so far.

Glam Vidya Balan to sizzle in her debut item number!

Glam Vidya to sizzle in her debut item number! The actress is almost killing herself to look glamorous in her debut item number

After winning laurels for her superb performance in The Dirty Picture, Vidya Balan is all set to go a notch higher when it comes to experimenting with her looks on screen.

For her debut item number in Vidhu Vinod Chopra's Ferrari Ki Sawaari, the actress is leaving no stone unturned to make sure that she looks her glamorous best. Vidya will not only try 10 different look tests but also wants to hear the scratches of the item song.

Our source in the film's production reveals, "As it is, Vidya has undergone a drastic makeover for The Dirty Picture. So the idea is to go further than that.

Hence she is insisting that we should collectively exploit as many looks as possible for her song, and go with the one that best suits the song that will be eventually finalised.

So 10 different looks are being worked out for her, with inputs from the film's makers and the stylist, apart from the actress herself."

Having put on kilos to play Silk in The Dirty Picture, Vidya has been working on losing the excess weight after the film's release. So it's natural to expect a slimmer and sexier avatar of the actress in her item debut.

Interestingly, it seems that it wasn't that the actress instantly agreed to do the item song. "Vidya saw some portions of the film, featuring Sharman Joshi, along with producers Chopra and Rajkumar Hirani.

She took an instant liking to the film and immediately agreed to do the song," reveals our source, adding that the actress is 'super excited' about it. "Besides, she has also extensively discussed it with Chopra, Hirani and Mapuskar, along with the nature of the song and the way it will be shot," points out the source.

On his part, director Rajesh Mapuskar confirmed this saying, "Yes, we are creatively working out the look. There have been all kinds of item numbers and we want this one to be different."

Shivaji changed my life completely: Shriya

`Shivaji` changed my life completely: ShriyaShriya Saran tried her luck in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam movies, but it was the unprecedented box-office success of Tamil film "Shivaji: The Boss" that she feels gave her acting career a new lease of life.

"Shivaji changed my life completely. It did give me a lot of respect. It did open a lot of doors for me. Deepa Mehta saw me in 'Shivaji' and took me for 'Cooking With Stella' and again in 'Midnight's Children'. A lot of Hindi movie directors approached me after 'Shivaji', " Shriya Saran, 29, told.

The 2007 movie that had matinee idol Rajinikanth in the title role was one of the top earners of the year.

Though she has made it big in southern cinema, Shriya is still struggling for name and fame in Bollywood and her last Hindi release was 2009 movie "Ek: The Power of One".

After a three-year break, she will be seen in a Hindi movie titled "Gali Gali Shor Hai" which she said "is a political satire. It's not that we are slapping the system. It's just that we are trying to bring a change."

Shriya has teamed up with Mugdha Godse and Akshaye Khanna in "Gali Gali Shor Hai", which is hitting screens Feb 3.

"Don't know whether it's a comeback or a long gap, but when I am doing a Telugu film people often ask me, 'Why aren't you doing Tamil films? When I am doing a Tamil film, they ask me why aren't you doing Hindi films. It was never a conscious effort. I would like to do Hindi films as I am comfortable talking in Hindi, " she said.

Not only Hindi, she speaks other languages effortlessly.

"Hindi comes naturally to me because it's my mother tongue. Of course, even English! Telugu I have learnt and it is my third language. I have also learnt Tamil but Malayalam is difficult."

She may be working with people from different culture, background and languages, but the actress feels there is no cultural difference when it comes to work.

"Language changes with people, language changes with the sense of humour. The way stories are told changes. The story said in Telugu will be different, Malayalam will be different and Hindi will be different. But the work culture doesn't really depend on the industry; it depends on the director you work with. It depends on the people working on the film, " Shriya stated.

She would love to do more and more films, but remakes do not excite her so much.

"I don't enjoy remakes so much. I mean I am not sure whether I would be interested in remaking my own film. Sometimes when story is changed and done well, then it's fantastic like 'Ghajini' and 'Bodyguard'. 'Dabangg' and '3 Idiots' have been remade in Tamil. Story line should be changed in remakes, " she said.

Oprah Winfrey Charms Bollywood, Salman Khan couldn't care less

Oprah Charms Bollywood, Salman Khan couldn`t care lessBy Subhash K Jha

In a flaming-orange saree Oprah made quite an impression on Bollywood’s biggies all of whom-- Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Farhan & Zoya Akhtar, Anil & Tina Ambani, Kanga Ranaut, Preity Zinta, Anil Kapoor, Ashutosh Gowariker, Arjun Rampal-- gathered at Parmeshwar Godrej’s home for a dinner on Monday night.

Oprah in full bloom, earlier visited the Bachchans’ household, specially to meet the oldest and youngest members of the family.

As she had already met –and interviewed—Abhishek and Aishwarya Oprah apparently expressed a keen interest to meet and the Big B and the junior-most B.

After a brief visit to Jalsa Oprah drove down to the Godrej residence with the Bachchans including Aishwarya on her first social outing since the baby. Jaya was conspicuous by her absence.

Curiously Oprah was escorted into the dinner venue by her Indian host Deepak Chopra.

Some of the more distinguished guests, like A R Rahman, Anil Kapoor and Shabana Azmi… Oprah was already familiar with, thanks to their global entertainment connections. But Oprah dazzled both those whom knew and those whom she didn’t know from Adam or Eve.

Shabana was introduced to Oprah by Deepak Chopra. The alert chat-show queen quickly turned around and said, “Of course, you are the Meryl Streep of India!”.

And Oprah hugged Shabana. The two ladies were seen chatting for quite a while. A curious eavesdropper overheard Oprah asking Shabana to be on her new chat-show.

Shabana isn’t the only one. Oprah apparently wants the Big B on her show too.

Anil Kapoor, India’s unofficial ambassador to Hollywood, was seen in a serious tete-a-tete with Oprah.

Javed Akhtar who had joined Anil naturally had far more to say. Oprah was seen listening to Javed very closely.

Says a guest, “Oprah wanted an overview of Bollywood. Javed Saab provided it, with additional inputs by Anil Kapoor who was surprisingly very subdued. ”

After-effects of the Mission Impossible 4 experience, perhaps.

Says a guest, “Oprah was attentive and personable to everyone. She didn’t know who Kangna Ranaut, Preity Zinta, Arjun Rampal, Neha Dhupia, Sameera Reddy were. But she made sure she spent a bit of time with everyone. ”

A R Rahman seemed to be in an uncharacteristically effusive mood. He was witty, talkative and even flirtatious.

Says an invitee, “We heard a familiar voice telling Oprah loudly that he admires three women greatly.

Oprah, Michelle Obama and Shabana Azmi. When we turned around we were surprised to see it was Rahman charming Oprah with his compliments.

He even got two pupils from his music academy to sing two songs for Oprah. She insisted on being photographed with them. ”

Says the guest, “Oprah seemed very curious to know as much as she could about the Hindi film industry. She mingled with the entire film fraternity that was present. And by the way, she carried the saree with great grace. ”

Apparently Aishwarya helped Oprah tie up the saree at the Bachchan residence before they proceeded for the Godrej dinner.

Interestingly, though it was meant to be a dinner party Oprah wasn’t seen digging into any of the culinary delights on the table. Avoiding a Delhi Belly, perhaps.

Strangely most of the ladies besides Sonam Kapoor, at the venue wore western designs, leaving Oprah to champion the cause of the saree. One exception was Sameera Reddy who came in a lime-cream saree which Oprah immediately took a fancy to.

Says a guest, “Sameera, a huge fan of Oprah, stood in a corner unsure of how to approach the Big Lady. Incredibly enough Oprah saw Sameera, came up to her and said, ‘Love the colour of your saree. I wish I was wearing it. ’

Sameera immediately became a bigger fan of Oprah. She had in fact postponed her holiday to Singapore for the dinner with Oprah. ”

Apparently Oprah had a conversation with every single guest at the party, regardless of whether she was introduced to him or her.

Missing from the Oprah dinner: Katrina Kaif who’s shooting an ad in far-off Orcha, Salman Khan who couldn’t care less. Aamir Khan was the other conspicuous absentee.
