The figures are out. ‘Don 2: The King is Back’ has made a lot of money within India and internationally. Farhan Akhtar’s highly touted sequel to 2006’s action flick ‘Don,’ which was itself a remake of Amitabh Bachchan’s ‘Don,’ has apparently collected Rs 75 crore including its dubbed versions in Tamil and Telugu at the box office.

With a power-packed starcast including SRK, Priyanka Chopra, Lara Dutta, Om Puri, Boman Irani and Hrithik Roshan in a cameo, the movie collectively grossed over $ 9. 5 million in the US, UK, Middle East and several other countries.

While it is a known fact that the movie was made on a budget of approximately Rs 75 crore it had recovered nearly Rs 45 crore from selling its satellite and audio rights even before its release.

The movie received mixed reviews from critics and audiences but it looks like SRK and Farhan’s promotional tactics have worked big time. Shah Rukh, who was increasingly losing ground to arch rival Salman in the battle of the box office can breathe easy. The figures are proof enough that he is still the ‘baadshah’ of Bollywood.

Saif Ali Khan and Ajay Devgn are having sleepless nights. And it’s all because of their films. Rumour has it that Saif is frustrated as his dream project ‘Agent Vinod’s’ release had been continuously delayed all through last year. The plan was to release it in February. But it seems that might not happen as girlfriend Kareena will be busy promoting her upcoming movie ‘Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu,’ with Imran Khan that releases in February. So Saif has no choice but to postpone it and that has created a new problem for him. Apparently, the date that he has got in March is clashing with Ajay Devgn’s ‘Tezz’.

Apparently, ‘Tezz,’ which has been directed by Priyadarshan is a thriller with heart-stopping action sequences choreographed by Hollywood’s Gareth Milne who worked on movies like ‘The Bourne Ultimatum,’ and the ‘Harry Potter’ series. Saif’s ‘Agent Vinod,’ is not any different. So naturally comparisons will abound.

A tabloid recently reported that ‘Tezz’s’ release had been postponed twice. Once in December when it was rumored that ‘Agent Vinod,’ was going to be released and the second time when some scenes had to be retouched. Ajay had begun to panic until the makers announced that March 23rd would be the release date.

While Ajay has shied away from talking about ‘Tezz,’ to the media so far ‘Agent Vinod,’ has hogged all the attention with its Hollywood like action scenes, Kareena and Saif’s sizzling real life romance, Saif’s injury, and Saifeena’s marriage talks. So it remains to be seen whether keeping mum will benefit Ajay’s ‘Tezz’ at all!

It looks like Bipasha Basu is suffering from a serious case of paranoia. Or perhaps she gets scared just at the thought of getting mobbed. Whatever be the reason, Bipasha surely is a difficult person to deal with during events.

Recently, the doe-eyed beauty was busy at a jewellery store in Bangalore where she was seen trying on her favorite brand of jewellry. Of course the organisers had taken care of everything and had provided 25 bouncers at the venue. But even that was not enough for the hot star.
Apparently, the actress was scared out of her wits when she spotted a thronging mass of fans right outside the store. An eyewitness reported that soon Bips rushed into the storeroom and locked herself in. She refused to come out outside unless she was provided with more security.

She complained that she didn’t feel safe enough with the kind of fans who wanted a glimpse of her. The organisers were caught off-guard, however they tried to assemble more security for her. Their search caused a substantial delay until they realised that they couldn’t meet Bips’ requirement and the event was eventually cancelled.

Last year, while shooting for her upcoming movie ‘Players,’ the actress was stalked by a Russian fan. Now, this recent incident with a mob of fans at what was expected to be a low-key event proves that everybody wants a piece of Bips!

My name will always be linked to porn: Sunny Leone

"I am who I am," says Sunny Leone. The Indo-Canadian porn star, the latest to be evicted out of reality show "Bigg Boss 5", says she did not try and use the platform to promote her "business".

It was reported that the Broadcasting Content Complaints Council (BCCC) cautioned channel Colors to ensure that Leone does not use the show to her advantage, following complaints over her appearance on the show.

But the 30-year-old is nonchalant.

"I don't know what's being going on ever since I am inside the 'Bigg Boss' house. I just know who I am, and the world knows who I am, and what I do...what is my business.

My name will always be associated with porn. But there was never any link-up with my website and 'Bigg Boss 5'," Leone told over phone from Mumbai.

People may have known her for different reasons, but Leone, whose real name is Karen Malhotra, gave the Indian audience a glimpse into her other side - the fun-loving girl, who loves to cook and dance.

"This show was so much fun! Thankfully, as you all must have seen, 'Bigg Boss' kept giving me dancing tasks one after the other. So my dancing skills are better, especially some Bollywood moves."

"Also, week by week, my Hindi kept improving, and it is a lot better now. But I was happiest about learning how to cook a variety of Indian food.

I made really good dal and learnt how to make potatoes in 10 different ways! I think that's amazing, and I am definitely going to cook an Indian meal once I am back home," she said.

The bisexual girl, who was born to Punjabi parents in Ontario, Canada, caused a flutter when her entry into the show was announced. But she dealt with it quite well. She came with an aim to entertain Indian audiences, and she did that successfully.

Even if she was evicted just a week before the grand finale of the show, Leone says she has no regret because it is all a part of the game.

Her bigger victory has been in the form of a movie offer from one of Bollywood's most formidable filmmakers, Mahesh Bhatt, for "Jism 2".

"I am really very excited about working with Mr. Mahesh Bhatt. He has told me a bit about the first instalment of the film, and said how it was very bold, controversial, and of course edgy.

So, yes, I am excited about Bollywood," said Leone, who says she wants to stay in India till "Bigg Boss 5" comes to an end.

Among the three men left on the show, she says she made good pals with Akashdeep Saigal aka Sky, and she also found a friend in actress Juhi Parmar.

For the time being, she hopes to enjoy her freedom out of the precincts of the "Bigg Boss 5" house, and watch TV in a hotel room with lots of good food!

Though there haven't been reports of any cat fights (thank goodness for that) between female 'players' Bipasha Basuand Sonam Kapoor right through the making of the film, is the friendly banter continuing post the making as well? After all, it seems rather interesting that there hasn't been any controversy built around the two women even though less than a week remains for the film's release?

Laughs Sonam, 'I think when you consciously don't create any controversy, there would never be any. When you are confident and secure about yourself, you don't get into that space where you have to worry about what the other person is doing. Also, look at Bipasha; now she is someone who doesn't have to prove anything to anyone. She has worked with Abbas-Mustan earlier (AJNABEE, RACE) and they also trust her to deliver goods. On the other hand for PLAYERS they were kind enough to give me a lead role so there was no question of me getting insecure of what I was doing.' 

This means that while with Bipasha she maintained a cordial relationship that ensured that the film's shoot passed through smoothly, when it came to buddies like Abhishek Bachchan and Sikander Kher, it was almost like being at home. 'I know them from my childhood and have grown up with them. I always had that comfort feel with them so it only made the entire movie making a fun experience indeed,' says Sonam.

Well, we hope audience too has as much fun when they catch the flick on 6th January.

After REMAKES, its time for SEQUELS

While 2011 saw many remakes climbing high on the box-office chart, 2012 is the year of sequels of blockbuster films. Multiple sequels will get released this year or hit the floor.

Salman Khan's DABANGG was the biggest hit of 2010. It was not only praised by the audience, but also received numerous awards at several award functions. Now, Arbaaz Khan dons the director's cap with DABANGG 2 after his clash with Abhinav Kashyap, who directed DABANGG. The release date of the film is not yet finalised.

The shooting of DHOOM 3 is also expected to begin early this year, though delays are affecting its schedule. Aamir Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and Uday Chopra, will share the careen space in the film. The shooting of the film was supposed to commence on November 2011, but it was postponed as Junior B wanted to spend some time with wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan when she was pregnant. Both Dhoom and DHOOM 2 have received people's thumbs-up. Moreover, Aamir Khan's entry in DHOOM 3 has only raised people's anticipation. The film is expected to fare well at the box-office.

Well lady, just hold on to that energy for a while because a lot more of that would be the need of the hour when you walk up the stage and start collecting your awards in weeks to come.

Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan promoted his son Abhishek Bachchan's upcoming film PLAYERS on his blog on Sunday.

"Abhishek has been able to spend an entire day with us after ages - he being flown in every day to different locations for his promotions for 'Players' releasing in a few days on the Friday - a fast paced slick film with some rather picturesque and daring stunts in some of the more remote regions of the world - New Zealand to the North Pole via Russia ... well almost," Big B wrote on his blog.

Vidya had gone to New Zealand for a quiet getaway last week but it turned out to be eventful in more ways than one. Sources say that the south Indian star was in Christchurch with her rumoured boyfriend and UTV Motion Pictures’ CEO, Siddharth Roy Kapur just hours before an earthquake rattled the city.

A source revealed to a tabloid that Vidya and Siddharth wanted to spend some time together in Christchurch’s serene environment especially since the actress had been extremely busy with her blockbuster movie ‘The Dirty Picture’ for the last few months. But as soon as the couple arrived in Christchurch Vidya had a whim to travel to the famed resort town, Queenstown in NZ’s south island. The couple took off with her beau only to be stunned by the news that an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.8 had struck Christchurch.

After recovering from the shock, Vidya and Siddharth immediately called their families to convey that they were safe and sound and that they would return soon. But we guess the beauty of the place was too inviting for them to fly back immediately and the duo returned only on New Year’s Eve.

It looks like even an earthquake can’t affect this couple’s romantic plans!

Shahrukh in Bhansali's South film remake

Sanjay Leela Bhansali has acquired the remake rights of 2002 Tamil hit Ramana; SRK has apparently already said yes to the project

Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who at the moment is writing his next directorial venture and will start casting for it in a month's time, has bought the remake rights of the 2002 Tamil blockbuster Ramana, with a strong anti-corruption message.

And apparently, SRK has already given a nod to play lead in the project.

Interestingly, word is that several prominent producers were vying for the Bollywood rights of the film, especially now when anti- corruption statements have acquired a profound relevance, thanks to Anna Hazare.

Says a close friend of Bhansali, "After acquiring the rights of the Telugu film Vikramarkurdu which he has remade as Rowdy Rathod with its original director Prabhu Deva helming the Hindi remake, Sanjay was not really open to another South remake.

He did Rowdy... for the experience. But then someone recommended Ramana to him.

When Sanjay saw the film, he was blown away. Made nine years ago, it is still as relevant. He had to acquire the remake rights and he had to get the director of the Tamil original to do it."

The film will be directed by A R Murugadoss, who is said to have already approached Shah Rukh Khan to play the lead.

Murugadoss confirmed, "I will be directing the Hindi version of Ramana. Shah Rukh and I have talked about the film."

Ameesha gifts beau Kuunal Goomer a luxury car

Ameesha Patel's beau is one lucky man. Kuunal Goomer who is also her movie production partner received a brand new luxury car as his Christmas present from his ladylove.

A friend of the actress tells us, "Ameesha had planned this surprise in advance and had accordingly booked the car at the showroom. And since it was Christmas on Sunday, she opted to have it delivered to Kuunal on that day."

Ameesha's friend further points out, "She's very happy with the way this relationship is going.

At the same time, she wanted to convey her joy for the way he is helping her with her maiden film production venture. And since the car is from Kuunal's favourite international motor brand, she decided on it for him."

It is learnt that this gift for her boyfriend has cost Ameesha about Rs 38 lakh. We're also told that this car, in black, is a top-end design and comes loaded with many features.

We hear, the Sri Lankan beauty Jacqueline Fernandez was ready to pack her bags and quit Bollywood in 2011. But a slew of projects, and brighter prospects in the industry, have enticed her to stay.

"(The year) 2011 came really unexpected... because I was almost ready to leave the industry and then 2011 just caught me by surprise and things just started getting better," Jacqueline said on the sidelines of a performance rehearsal.

The former beauty queen made her Bollywood debut with "Aladin" in 2009, and went on to feature in "Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai" -- both of which turned out to be duds. She also featured in "Murder 2", but she was most appreciated for her item song "Dhanno" in Sajid Khan's "Housefull".

And now Jacqueline is looking forward to a promising new year.

"2012 is going to be a really important year for me. It will have the most amount of releases in a year. I've always had a maximum of one release in a year but in 2012, I am going to have three releases. It's going to be really exciting year for me and it will be focused completely on work," she added.

Among the films lined up for Jacqueline are "Housefull 2", "Race 3" and "Raaz 3D" in the coming year.
