Bollywood's delicate divas are now turning into action mode. From Katrina to Priyanka to Bebo, they are all doing it.

Here are some big screen divas who have done some kick ass sequences in movies.

1. Katrina Kaif

The lucky mascot of Bollywood now seems to be all set to prove her multifarious potential. We hear Kat is learning and performing some eye opening stunts under the tutelage of action director Conard Palmisano for her upcoming flick Ek Tha Tiger with Salman Khan.

2. Kareena Kapoor

'Love conquers all', the quote seems a perfect fit for Bebo. It is learnt that the would-be Begum of Chottey Nawab pushed her courage to next level and has performed some unbelievable stunts in Saif's upcoming flick Agent Vinod.

3. Lara Dutta

A hydrophobic, Lara Dutta, made the audiences go 'wow' with her super sensual bikini appearance and breathtaking underwater action modules, amongst the deadly sea creatures, inBlue.

4. Aishwarya Rai

The hot new mom Aishwarya Rai Bachchan also thrashed Bollywood's stereotype about being a misfit for stunts. Aish's gravity defying stunts in the YRF blockbuster Dhoom 2 were hugely applauded by the masses.

5. Priyanka Chopra

Piggy Chops too seems to be an adrenaline junkie. Priyanka performed some daredevil stunts for Don 2 including combat on the top of a van. She even learnt Gatka, a Sikh martial art style, for her cine flick Drona opposite AB baby.

6. Deepika Padukone

Deepika is also among the league of Bollywood's stunt women. In Pradeep Sarkar's cine flickLafangey Parindey Deepika has reportedly performed all her stunt sequences herself and left co-star Neil Nitin Mukesh shell-shocked with her courage.

Slapgate reportage affecting my kids: Shah Rukh Khan

Bollywood badshah Shah Rukh Khan Wednesday refused to categorically state whether he had slapped Shirish Kunder or not but said the reportage on the incident was affecting his kids.

"Lots of things are being said about my life in news channels but the stuff which you put up in the channels are not the whole truth. This is embarrassing at times as I have a 14-year-old son and an 11-and-a-half year old daughter," said Shah Rukh, who was in Kolkata to address a programme.

The Bollywood badshah felt it was embarrassing for a father to explain certain issues to his children.

"Every morning it becomes very difficult to explain to your children and it becomes embarrassing as a father, as a brother or as elder son of the family to explain about what is stated," he told reporters.

Shah Rukh reportedly roughed up editor-filmmaker Shirish, the husband of his former friend Farah Khan, in the wee hours of Monday during Sanjay Dutt's success party for "Agneepath".

"Bollywood stories are presented in a larger than life way... I have read the headlines. Yeah, some of them have not happened and some of them might have happened, but I would like to keep it to myself," he remarked.

Describing Farah as a very old friend, Shah Rukh regretted the reports that have been published about his differences with her.

"I have heard things that have been stated about us and it's very difficult for people to sit down and read things in the house. In our house, the kids call her Farah aunty. It's really sad when for last two years people say she said this and that... None of that is happening," he said.

However, he sounded hopeful of settling the differences.


"We can resolve our issues... certain issues we can resolve with hugs and happiness and I want to keep it personal," he said.

Earlier in Mumbai too he was evasive about the fracas.

"Did I tell you that there was a fight... no... so I will not tell anything about the patch up also," Shah Rukh told reporters at a pre-nuptial ceremony of Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D'Souza. The actor reached the function in the wee hours of Wednesday.

The truce between Shah Rukh and Shirish was reportedly initiated by Farah's brother Sajid Khan and filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala.

Shirish, Farah, Sajid and producer Nadiadwala met Shah Rukh at his house Mannat, where all of them sorted out the issue.

After the patch up, Shirish had told IANS that their frienship has become stronger than ever.

Salman denies calling Shirish Kunder

The actor is reportedly upset at being drawn into the controversy

Salman Khan is angry. The reason is because his name has been drawn into the SRK-Shirish slapping incident though he is nowhere in the picture. A couple of days ago, a tabloid had reported that a concerned Salman Khan had called up his friend Shirish Kunder to show his support after Shah Rukh bashed him at Sanjay Dutt’s party. As is well known, Salman and Shirish are good friends and both have a common rival – Shah Rukh.

Interestingly, when the report came out, Salman was surprised. Sources close to him have said that Sallu was clueless about the whole fight, especially considering the fact that he was not even in the country! Salman is shooting in faraway Cuba for ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ and the area doesn’t even have a proper network. “How can he call Shirish to offer support?” asked the source.

Apparently, Salman’s family is very upset at his name being used in the fight. Sallu too denied calling Shirish or anyone else regarding the incident.

It looks like the SRK-Shirish controversy will not die such an easy death despite the reported patch-up. If Salman could play a role in it even when he is not in the country, we wonder how things would have panned out had he been at the party!

"Believe me, when I started this script I could only think of Akshaye. He is a very good actor and the kind of expressions he gives undoubtedly makes him a kind of common man that you would see in Bhopal or Bareilly or a Bikaner", he says, "God is really great because you may have an ideal cast in your mind but it may not necessarily work out like that. In case of GALI GALI CHOR HAI, whomsoever did I think of is there in the film, right from the leads to the supporting actors. I faced no issues on the dates or the price either. We went as per the plan."


Well, plans of GALI GALI CHOR HAI indeed seems to be falling in place, what with Anna blessing the film quite recently and then the topic of corruption continuing to be alive amongst 'aam junta'.

"See, we hadn't intentionally planned the film to coincide with Anna movement. It just happened that Anna became a national hero while our film was also completed around the same time", says Rumi, "We had worked on the script a couple of years back and after that it was god who helped us find a way. We have made the film with a lot of heart and hope that it starts yet another movement across the country."

With Shreya Saran and Mugdha Godse as the leading ladies, GALI GALI CHOR HAI releases tomorrow.

Salman Khan denied backing Shirish Kunder!

Recently after the Shahrukh Khan-Shirish Kunder's slap-gate controversy, an English tabloid reported that Salman Khan had called up Shirish to offer his support.

However, according to latest media reports, Salman Khan has rubbished the news and claimed that he was unnecessarily dragged into the issue.

With kids around, no time for romance: Manyata Dutt

With Valentine's Day round the corner, Manyata Dutt wants to spend some quality time with husband Sanjay Dutt. However, she admits that romance has taken a backseat after her children were born and a quiet dinner at home is now the most romantic thing for her.

"It's (a good date) like a good dinner at home. Since now I have got two babies, I just can't think of romance alone with my husband. My babies are all over. It's just like at home with kids and family, that is what romance is all about," Manyata said here at the launch of Rotary watches.

Manyata and Sanjay got married in Feb 2008 and are parents of twins -- son Shahraan and daughter Iqra who were born in Oct 2010.

Recalling the most romantic thing ever done by Sanjay, she said: "He was campaigning in Lucknow for some elections and he hired a chartered jet and just flew down. Those days Ranbir's song 'Khuda Jane ke' was really happening. He was home before I could come back from work and he was there and sang the song for me.

"I had not seen him for eight days, so that was very touchy and romantic.

Abhishek gets an award

Finally, Abhishek Bachchan will get an award. Unfortunately it’s not for his acting talents or any of his movies (of course, given the kind of films he does, it would be impossible to give him any trophy)! But Bachchan Jr is getting an award for his commitment to the environment. And the person who will be presenting him with a trophy is none other than Hollywood superstar and 80s action icon Arnold Schwarzenegger!

The actor and former politician joins a string of Hollywood stars coming to India. He is flying to Delhi to participate in the 12th Delhi Sustainable Development Summit. Interestingly, Abhishek will also share the stage with the 'Terminator'. Abhi, sources say, will receive the award from Schwarzenegger for outstanding efforts by a celebrity towards a greener globe. Of course we are still wondering what the ‘Players’ star did for the environment to merit the honour!

However, that does not take away Junior B’s excitement at getting the award from his childhood hero. “He has grown up on his movies and is really looking forward to meet him,” says a source.

Deepika says ‘game over’

The status of a relationship these days are mostly conveyed through status messages – whether on Facebook or blackberry messenger. And it appears that like any other girl her age, Deepika Padukone too believes in using this medium to tell the world about the direction her relationship is taking.

A tabloid reports that a few days after the grapevine said that she had broken up with Siddharth Mallya, Deepika has not just changed her Blackberry messenger status but also her display picture. Her display picture (DP) on her blackberry now has a black patch. The more telling comment comes from her status which now reads ‘game over’.

Sources say that though Deepika is heartbroken she isn’t as affected by this break-up the way she was when she had a fallout with Ranbir Kapoor. On the other hand, Siddharth has apparently confirmed the break up. Insiders say he was heard telling his friends that the relationship was heading nowhere.

It looks like Deepika will have to wait longer for her Mr Right.

Anupama Verma duped for 17 lakh

Anupama Verma says two former ICICI Bank employees created a debit card in her name while they were employed with the bank and used that to cheat her.

These crooks had really long-term plans. Borivli police have arrested two bank employees after they applied for a debit card in the name of model/actress Anupama Verma and withdrew more than Rs 17 lakh from her account. Verma realised her account was empty when a cheque that she had issued bounced.

According to the police, the two culprits identified as Rakesh Vishwakarma and Nitin Sharma were working for ICICI Bank's Nariman Point branch in 2010 when Verma had opened the account and deposited the money. In June last year, the actress had gone abroad and so had not been able to check her account for many months, which was observed by the two accused. Police officers investigating the case said the duo was also aware of the fact that Verma had received a debit card but hadn't activated it.

Cashing in

Cops added that the crooks then applied for a debit card in Verma's name, claiming the previous one had gone missing. After they had quit their jobs they accessed various ATMs in Borivli more than 170 times during which they withdrew Rs 17.3 lakh. (Rs 13.3 lakh from her savings account and Rs 4 lakh from a fixed deposit). After the withdrawal, the two started working for other banks.

"When I gave a cheque of Rs 7,500 to someone and it bounced, I was shocked. However, I approached the bank and lodged a complaint. When I contacted the relationship manager I was told that the next cheque would not bounce. However, the cheque bounced twice more before being passed in July, when some interest from my FD had been transferred to the savings account. It was only in December last year when I realised that my account was completely empty," said Verma.

"I had also issued a cheque of Rs 700 for another transaction. When that cheque bounced, that's when I learnt about the theft," added Verma who later approached the bank's head office, after which the institution paid her the full amount and reported the matter to the police. However, the actress says she is not done.

'Don't bank on anyone'

"I will also file a case against the bank. It was due to their negligence that I had to face so many problems and harassment. If my money isn't safe in a bank, then where else do I go? How can two bank employees create a debit card in my name with false documents and then use it to withdraw such a large sum and the bank doesn't realise something is amiss," she said.

Police officers investigating the case said that they had traced the ATM centre from where the withdrawals had been made. CCTV recordings revealed the two culprits making cash withdrawals.

"We then tracked down the duo and arrested them on Wednesday for forgery and theft. We are also trying to find out if any other present or former bank officials are involved in the matter," said an officer from the Borivli police station.

The two will be presented in court on Friday.

"First her money goes missing. Then the bank puts the blame on her and makes her wait four months to recover her own money. This is totally preposterous. We'll be sending a legal notice to the bank on Thursday," said advocate Hitesh Jain, who is advising Anupama Verma.

Bank says

"A fraud was detected in the account of a customer. ICICI Bank filed a police complaint based on which the main accused and his accomplice have been arrested. Bank has taken all steps to ensure customers financial interest is safeguarded," said an ICICI Bank spokesperson in response to a detailed email from MiD DAY.

AGNEEPATH overwhelms global box office, earns $3.2 mn

After a record opening in the domestic market, filmmaker Karan Johar's "Agneepath" has tasted success in the overseas market by earning $3.2 million (Rs.160 million) since it opened Jan 26.

Eros International released the Hrithik Roshan-starrer on 337 screens worldwide. The film, directed by debutant Karan Malhotra, grossed 347,000 pounds in Britain in the first four days. In the US, the four-day collections were $1.3 million and in the UAE, "Agneepath" collected more than $800,000.

"'Agneepath' has done extremely well in all the overseas markets making it the first blockbuster of the year. The tremendous response has been very encouraging with all major markets indicating remarkable box office results," Pranab Kapadia, president, marketing and distribution, Eros International, said in a statement.

Meanwhile, after a record first day opening, the film is on its way to join the Rs.1 billion club as it has already earned Rs.750 million in the five days of its release. If trade experts are to be believed, the film is likely to do better as there is no big release in the coming weekend.

"All of us at Dharma Productions are ecstatic with the collections. It truly is the director Karan Malhotra's vision that has made it all possible. Revisiting a cult classic is a dating task....and he along with his brilliant cast and crew have helped create box office magic," said an overwhelmed Karan Johar, the producer.


"Agneepath" is the remake of 1990 film of the same name, but it was not a commercial success. However, Amitabh Bachchan got a national award for his performance. The new version of the movie has Hrithik playing the iconic Vijay Dinanath Chauhan.

Rishi Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt are getting rave reviews for their portrayals of Rauf Lala and Kancha Cheena respectively.

Kashmera Shah counts her benefits after Delhi robbery

The hoity-toity Kashmera Shah is a happy girl once again! Her belongings, including her handbag and credit cards were stolen from her car while she was shooting for Channel [V]’s show Steal Ur Girlfriend in Delhi last week. But now, the channel and the show’s production house Random Productions, has gifted her a brand new bright red DKNY handbag.

“They felt bad that the robbery took place outside their office and also the fact that I had not complained about it to them at all,” said Kashmera. “In fact, I spent an hour blocking my credit cards and the moment the last one was blocked, I smiled and said ‘let’s shoot’.”

“The production guys thought I would remain upset the whole day, but when they saw me shooting with a smile, they decided to compensate a bit for my loss,” she adds, delighted at their thoughtful gesture.

But one thing Kash still regrets about the robbery, is losing a precious ring that her boyfriend Krushna had gifted her. “That’s one thing which pained me a lot,” she rues. But Krushna being her knight in shining armour, has promised to buy her a better one this Valentines. No wonder, Kash is on cloud nine, and can’t stop counting her benefits from the robbery!

Dia mirza has no plans to get married this year

Acrtess Dia Mirza says she has no plans to get married this year as she has a very busy schedule.

"Not this year as it is already a packed year and I'll be busy attending the weddings," said Dia who was here Monday to attend the sangeet ceremony of Riteish Deshmukh-Genelia D'Souza, who are getting married Friday.

She feels that Riteish and Genelia have set an example for others by handling their relationship so nicely.

"It's a very, very wonderful example to all of the other newcomers coming into the industry. I would specially like to say that the way Riteish and Genelia have handled their relationship and the way they have gone about it, is beautiful," said the 30-year-old actress.

Dia, who turned producer in 2011 with "Love, Breakups, Zindagi", is currently shooting for "Johnny Mastana".

Malaika to spice up Zee Bollywood Nite

Malaika Arora Khan, who is one of India's top item girls, is expected to be the star attraction at the Zee Bollywood Nite 2012 at the Putrajaya Convention Centre.

The 38-year-old will be at the event, organised by Zee Variasi channel that popularised a host of drama and reality show artistes, for a sizzling weekend of songs, music and dances in celebration of Bollywood movie magic.

The Saturday night show will also include performances by Sara Khan and Sujay Reu from 'Ram Milaye Jodi', Binny Sharma from 'Dance India Dance', Vaishnavi and Ruturaj from 'DID Little Masters' as well as Abhilasha Chellum from 'SaReGaMaPa Singing Superstars'.

The model, who started off as a VJ when MTV India first started its operations and then went on to become a model and actress, is right at the top of the list of film producers intent to promote their movies.

"Don''t miss the chance to see her gyrate her hips in her maiden performance here," the Star Online quoted an insider in Zee TV as telling The Daily Chilli.
