Abhi, Sonam, Bips, Neil and Bobby take the city by storm
The stars of 'Players'
The last two months have been great for Bollywood lovers in Dubai. The city has witnessed several star visits over the last few weeks (not that we are complaining in the least bit!). Yesterday it was the turn of the team of ‘Players’ including Abhishek Bachchan, Sonam Kapoor, Bipasha Basu, Neil Nitin Mukesh and directors Abbas-Mustan to wow audiences in Dubai when they visited the city for a press conference at Global Village and the red carpet premiere at Grand Hyatt later in the evening.
Here are some highlights of the day:
Abhishek pulls a fast one
Abhishek Bachchan is known for his cheeky sense of humour and there was plenty of it on display. At the red carpet, a fan yelled out to him, “Abhishek, we love your dad.” “I also love my father ma’m,” said Junior B. Similarly during the press conference a scribe asked him how he juggled daddy duties with his films. He replied, all serious and poker-faced, “I am doing ok.” And then explained with a smile, “It’s all about managing things; where there is a will, there is always a way.”
Bipasha celebrates her birthday at the PC
Not many people knew that Bips had celebrated her birthday a few days ago. When new year wishes were being exchanged, Bobby pointed it out to the crowd. Immediately, everyone started wishing the hottie a happy birthday! Bips burst into laughter and gave Bobby a huge hug for his efforts.
Sonam dresses to kill
Sonam never ceases to amaze us with her dress sense and yesterday was no different. She looked stunning in her casual asymmetrical top and harem pants with a chunky gold necklace. “Keeping in tune with the theme of gold in the film,” she told us. In the evening she wore a stunning off-shoulder ivory gown.
Neil Nitin Mukesh spends time doodling
Neil Nitin Mukesh had his share of fans especially among the kids. He was seen busy signing autographs for the young ones. But we found what he is truly interested in – doodling! All through the press conference, he was sketching on a page but he refused to share it with us! However it was cute to see him bond with his dad singer Nitin Mukesh who had accompanied him.
Bobby Deol loves Abbas-Mustan
Bobby has worked with Abbas-Mustan in five films. No wonder he can’t refuse them whenever they approach him with a script. Bobby admitted that he didn’t even ask what his role was when he was offered this film.
The cars stunts stun the crowd
The day began with some fabulous car stunts where two mini coopers took a series of sharp spins and turns, copying the stunts in the movie. The stars were present in the car and as Abhishek later quipped, “Don’t try these stunts at home, we are trained professionals hence we could carry it off!”
The crowd goes gaga on the red carpet
In the evening, the action shifted to Grand Cineplex where the premiere was held. The crowd waited with bated breath as the stars arrived in style and walked the red carpet. Bipasha, dressed in a stunning cream gown won the maximum whistles while Sonam who looked gorgeous in an ivory gown was a huge hit with the young girls present there. The audience also went mad over Abhishek with people wishing him on the birth of his baby!
