Ranbir and Imtiaz to team up again

Ranbir and Imtiaz to team up again: "
After working together in ‘Rockstar’, actor Ranbir Kapoor and filmmaker Imtiaz Ali would be joining hands once again. The duo would team up for a film to be produced by Sajid Nadiadwala.

Ranbir had vowed never to repeat working with the same director. He had a bitter experience with Siddharth Anand and took the decision after ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’ and ‘Anjaana Anjaani’ faux pas. Even Imtiaz had thought not to repeat actors in any of his films. But it seems the ‘Rockstar’ actor- director duo is going to make an exception for Nadiadwala this time.

An insider informed, “There has been a lot of speculation surrounding Ranbir’s frequent visits to Sajid Nadiadwala’s office. Many even believed that Ranbir may replace Shah Rukh Khan in Nadiadwala’s 2 States. But that’s not true. Sajid actually wants Ranbir in a hardcore action film. And he wants Imtiaz Ali to direct Ranbir in his first full fledged action film.”

“The action genre is something that Imtiaz hasn’t dabbled with so far. Sajid too is ready to invest really well for the project,” added the source.

Sajid Nadiadwala however confirmed his plans of hiring Ranbir after Anjaana Anjaani, but he did not say anything about signing Imtiaz for the same film. He said, “Ranbir is so versatile. I want him to do something he hasn’t done so far. Yes, we’re looking seriously at an action film. However who will direct it I can’t say at the moment.”

Ameesha wants to join Race2

Ameesha to join Race2: "
Insiders from the film circle have revealed that Ameesha Patel would be joining the eclectic star cast of Abbas-Mustan’s next venture ‘Race2’ soon.

The sequel of 2008 hit film already has an ensemble cast comprising of Deepika Padukone, John Abraham, Sonakshi Sinha and Anil Kapoor. Now Ameesha’s inclusion will definitely add to the magnetism of the movie.

Reportedly, the serene actress will be seen in a fresh avatar altogether. She will go all glam for the role and will be seen wearing hot dresses. “I will play a super sexy, glamorous girl. I can’t reveal much, but this is definitely one of the most exciting roles I have done.”

Ameesha is quite upbeat about working in the film. She reveals, “It feels phenomenal. It’s a great feeling. “Race 2″ is a big film to be associated with. This year has been amazing for me, from turning producer to going back to working with Abbas-Mustan. I am also thrilled to be working with Saif after “Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic”.

The second part is said to be steamier, racier, and with more twists and turns than the prequel.

When asked if she has any apprehensions in wearing skimpy clothes, she says, “Not at all. I fully trust Abbas-Mustan. We have worked together in the past, so I have full faith in them. Even during “Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic”, I was thrilled with the response I got to the “Lazy Lamhe” song. I don’t have any inhibitions for the role.”

Katrina scared of working with SRK

Katrina scared of working with SRK: "
Glam- doll Katrina Kaif who is usually seen with young actors like Ranbir Kapoor or Imran khan or Hrithik Roshan in films these days says that she is scared of working with senior actors.

At the beginning of her career she was often paired with Salman Khan or Akshay Kumar on screen but she gradually shifted to the young lot. The actress feels it is more fun to work with the same age group than with those who are 1 or 2 decades elder than her. She stated, “I don’t think anyone will mind if I say that it is very different working with older heroes because the age difference is of about 20 years, and just about two to three years with the younger heroes with who you can even do nonsense on the sets. For instance, Imran would come on the sets; he would kick me playfully…at times there would be nothing constructive what we were doing. there is so much bachpana..”

And one senior actor Katrina is petrified working with is Shah Rukh Khan with whom she will be seen in Yash Raj banner’s forthcoming movie. “I don’t know what it will be like working with Shah Rukh but I have heard that he makes his heroines very comfortable which is good. I am only on hi, hello terms with him and now I am doing Yash Chopra’s romantic film with him! I look at him longingly but am always short of words while in his company,” says Katrina.

When asked if like her contemporaries she has also grown up watching SRK films, Katrina said, “I have not grown up watching his movies at all. He is now, he is there and I am here now and I look at it from that angle. And I definitely don’t think Shah Rukh Khan has seen me growing up either.”

John and Bipasha avoid each other

John and Bipasha avoid each other: "
John Abraham and Bipasha Basu, who were in a relationship since 2003, had a full- blown split a month ago. Since then both are not on talking terms and are often seen trying to avoid crossing paths with each other.

Recently, when this tinsel town’s ex couple ran into each other at a gym in Bandra (where they both work out) they were caught giving what we call ‘the cold shoulder treatment’.

Normally, they have different timings, but on Tuesday they coincidentally found themselves at the gym at the same time but tried to pretend that they did not notice each other. An eyewitness present at the same place insisted that both the B- Town stars kept their distance with each other. He said, “Both looked a little taken aback when they realized they’d both landed up at the same time at the gym. But they decided not to leave and instead finish their workout. They both have different trainers, so they managed to keep their distance from each other.”

Both of them finished working out and even exited the gym at the same time. When they came out, they were surprised to see paparazzi gathered outside. Bips quickly rushed into her car, while John met up with the media people. While Bipasha said, “No comments! Yes, it’s my gym and I go there every day!” John said, “I am not aware of what you are talking about.”

3 Pakistani dead in UK riots

BIRMINGHAM (Agencies) - Three Pakistani nationals were killed here on Wednesday while protecting their community from the rioters, British police said. The trio was struck by a car which mounted a pavement in Dudley Road on Wednesday morning.
According to Birmingham police, the men had been drawn into a fight with looters as they defended their properties and businesses from rioters.
Police launched a murder inquiry as a friend of the men told BBC they had been part of a group of British Asians protecting their area from looters after attending Ramazan prayers at a mosque. “The car swerved toward them. It was cold-blooded murder,” the friend said.
Two brothers Haroon Hussain, 32, and Shazad Hussain, 30, were pronounced dead at the scene. While the third man identified as Mansoor Ali, 22, died in the hospital. All three slain Pakistanis hailed from Gujar Khan.
Police said they had arrested a man and launched a murder inquiry after the incident which happened at around 1:00 am (0000 GMT) as Britain’s second biggest city suffered from another night of riots.
Paramedics said they found around 80 people at the scene after the men were hit by the car. Around 200 people from Birmingham’s Asian community gathered outside the hospital where the victims were taken and that riot police were also stationed here, the BBC reported. There was no immediate confirmation of those details from police.
Prime Minister David Cameron expressed regrets over the death of three Pakistanis and said police were working on the case and killers would soon be arrested.
Meanwhile, Pakistani High Commission in London conveyed its concern to the British authorities over the deaths and asked Pakistani community to cooperate with British police for maintaining law and order.
Prime Minister Cameron said a “fightback” was underway Wednesday after four nights of violent riots as he authorised police to use water cannon for the first time in mainland Britain.
With Britain’s worst riots in a generation spreading to the northwest city of Manchester and three Pakistani people being killed while defending their community in Birmingham, central England, Cameron said there was a “sickness” in society.
He said London was quieter overnight after 16,000 police flooded the streets and vigilante groups protected stricken neighbourhoods from gangs who have burned down and raided dozens of shops and homes.
“We needed a fightback and a fightback is underway,” Cameron told a news conference outside 10 Downing Street after the second meeting of Britain’s COBRA security committee in as many days.
“We now have in place contingency plans for water cannon to be available at 24 hours’ notice,” Cameron said, adding that police had already been authorised to use plastic baton rounds against rioters.
Elsewhere, in Salford, rioters threw bricks at police and set fire to buildings. A BBC cameraman was attacked. Television pictures showed flames leaping from shops and cars, and plumes of thick black smoke billowing across roads.
“Greater Manchester Police has been faced with extraordinary levels of violence from groups of criminals intent on committing widespread disorder,” Assistant Chief Constable Gary Shewan said.
“These people have nothing to protest against - there is no sense of injustice or any spark that has led to this. It is, pure and simple, acts of criminal behaviour which are the worst I have seen on this scale.”
In Liverpool’s Toxteth district, rioters attacked two fire engines and a fire officer’s car, police said. Earlier, some 200 youths throwing missiles wrecked and looted shops, causing “disorder and damage,” police said.
Police said they had arrested 113 people in Manchester and Salford, and 50 in Liverpool.
In Gloucester, in western England, eight fire crews fought a blaze in a large derelict building, cars were set on fire and groups of youths attacked police with rocks and bottles.
Cars were burned and stores looted in West Bromwich and Wolverhampton in central England; and in Nottingham a gang of young men set fire to a police station. There were also disturbances in Birmingham and Leicester in the Midlands, and Milton Keynes north of London.
In London, commuters hurried home early on Tuesday, shops shut and many shopkeepers boarded their windows.
Gangs have ransacked stores, carting off clothes, shoes and electronic goods, torched cars, shops and homes - causing tens of millions of pounds of damage - and taunted the police.
Meanwhile, defiant Britons have taken to the streets in their hundreds to defend their communities against rioters — but some have paid with their lives and police have warned against vigilante-style justice.
From immigrant communities guarding their communities to football supporters chanting “England, England, England” as they patrol their neighbourhood, many groups have taken matters into their own hands after four nights of looting.
Hundreds of Sikhs, some dressed in traditional outfits, gathered outside their gurdwara in Southall, west London, late Tuesday after earlier rumours circulated that it was next on the looters’ hitlist.
The group organised motorcycle patrols and monitored the train station for potential troublemakers, according to an AFP reporter.
Around 200 locals in Enfield, the north London borough at the heart of previous attacks, strode through the area to “protect their streets”, an AFP correspondent said.
Amateur video footage released Wednesday showed a group of around 100 men running down an Enfield street chanting “England, England, England”.
The group earlier became involved in an altercation with a youth carrying a hockey stick, but the situation was resolved after a majority of the mob called for calm.
A similar number of football fans congregated in the southeast suburb of Eltham, also rumoured to be a likely hot spot.
Mainly Turkish shopkeepers in the north London districts of Hackney and Kentish Town sat outside their shops into the early hours, many with makeshift weapons by their side.
In the affluent south London district of Clapham - nicknamed “Nappy Valley” as it is home to large numbers of middle-class young parents - residents reportedly manned a barricade across a main road to keep out rioters on Monday night.
In the suburban west London suburb of Ealing a man was critically injured on Monday night after rioters beat him up when he confronted them.
The need for vigilante groups on British streets has also raised serious questions about the police and government’s ability to handle the situation.
But a senior officer with London’s Metropolitan Police, Deputy Assistant Commissioner Steve Kavanagh, warned that the vigilantes were hampering the policing operation.
Meanwhile, a father described how he rushed to aid a dying man hit by a car during riots in the English city of Birmingham only to find it was his 21-year-old son.
“I heard the thud, ran around and I saw three people on the ground,” Tariq Jahan told reporters.
“My instinct was to help the three people. I didn’t know who they were, who’d been injured. I helped the first man, and somebody from behind told me my son was lying behind me.
“So I started CPR on my own son. My face was covered in blood, my hands were covered in blood.”
Police launched a murder inquiry after all three Muslim men died. A 32-year-old man has since been arrested.
The men were part of a group of British Asians attempting to protect their area from looters after attending Ramadan prayers at a mosque, a friend of the men told BBC radio.
They acted after seeing gangs break into a petrol station and social club, and neighbours being beaten up, Jahan said.
Riots spread to England’s second city on Tuesday after three nights of violence in London.
“Why, why?,” Jahan said. “I don’t understand. We are here defending the community of all the problems that are going on in the country. He was trying to help his community.”
He said his son, Haroon, a mechanic, was well-liked and well-known in the community. “You lose your son, I can’t describe to anyone what it feels like to lose your son,” he said. (Reporting by Avril Ormsby; Editing by Jodie Ginsberg and Robert Woodward)

Casting process for ‘Heroine’ is still on: "
Until last week, the media vine was abuzz with the news that Kareena Kapoor had finally accepted Madhur Bhandarkar’s film ‘Heroine’. The official statement read, “We would like to clarify that no casting has been finalised for ‘Heroine’ at all. We further wish to state that no financial terms have been agreed upon and definitely not even remotely close to the figures quoted in the article today.”

Katrina to get jiggy with Sanjay Dutt

Katrina to get jiggy with Sanjay Dutt: "
After oozing oodles of oomph in ‘Sheila Ki Jawani’ and turning the heat a notch up in ‘Bodyguard’, Katrina Kaif will be seen shaking her belly for the third in ‘Agneepath’.

The latest reports suggest that filmmaker Karan Johar has approached Katrina for an item number in the tribute to his father’s 1990 movie ‘Agneepath’.

If all goes well, the gorgeous gal will be seen jiving with Sanjay Dutt who essays Kancha Cheena’s role in the remake. The item track will be composed by Marathi brothers Atul and Ajay Gogavale of ‘Singham’ fame. The composers have been asked not to give away any detail about it. It’s been said that the dance number would be on the lines of Laxmikant-Pyarelal’s chartbuster ‘Jhuma chooma de de’.

Reportedly, Sanjay has already started preparing for the song. He has decided to take two weeks off to rehearse his steps and will shave his head off for the third time in the film. On Monday, Dutt shaved his head for the second time for some remaining portions of the film.

Dutt’s business manager Dharam Oberoi confirmed, “Yes, he has shaved his head again for some patchwork shooting. He will also have to shave his head off in September.”
