Aamir Khan is the new brand ambassador for UNICEF India
The actor-activist Aamir Khan's adding the act to activist once again - the star had been appointed the new UNICEF India brand ambassador to support the organisation's work in promoting child rights and nutrition of children under two years of age.
Aamir said at the event in New Delhi where he took on his new role for UNICEF, "I realize there is a lot to be done and I hope that by lending my voice I can make a difference to the lives of children and thereby to the future of our country. This issue is close to my heart and I hope this initiative is successful."
The 'Dhoom 3' actor also talked about how his acclaimed home production 'Taare Zameen Par' had been made because of his deep connection with issues concerning kids.
"If a newborn child is not physically and mentally healthy, we start on a bad foot," Aamir added.
The 46-year-old star has been associated with the cause for the past year now. According to UNICEF, one out of every two children is malnourished in India leaving them vulnerable to poor health and diseases particularly those from the most remote and disadvantageous communities.
