His ‘Delhi Belly’ has been denied a certificate for its screening on TV
Aamir Khan
When Aamir Khan was promoting his adult comedy ‘Delhi Belly’, he said that he would be losing a lot of his fans and family audiences with this film. It looks like his fears have come true. Though the film, replete with risqué jokes and explicit scenes, was a big hit with the youth, it is still considered too hot to be shown on the small screen.
The story goes that Aamir, like other filmmakers wanted a television premiere of his film which was released earlier this year. But the censor board has denied to give it a U/A certification to the adult film which is necessary if it has to be screened on TV. Director Abhinay Deo apparently re-edited and re-dubbed the content of the film to suit the sensibilities of TV audiences and the guidelines of the censor board but the latter wasn’t willing to budge.
Insiders now say, Aamir has taken it upon himself to deal with the members of the board and convince them. Meanwhile, his team is going out all out to ensure that the demands of the censor board are met with even while retaining the essence of the movie.
It is surely a tough task for the USP of ‘Delhi Belly’ is its shocking jokes! Can you imagine the movie without them?
