Farhan Akhtar is not ready for a double role

Friday, 27 January 2012

Farhan Akhtar is going through an interesting stage of his career where he is enjoying the best of both worlds - direction as well as acting. While he was the most successful of the lot when he dabbled in both affairs independently last year ('DON 2' and 'ZINDAGI NA MILEGI DOBARA), he has no intention whatsoever to play the double role of being a director-actor in the same film.

"Ever since he first faced the camera for ROCK ON, he has been inundated with offers to design a film which he directs as well as acts in. Even though he has his own production house, outsiders too have shown keen interest in him playing this double role. However Farhan hasn't fallen to the temptation. He is sure that if he is calling the shots as a director, by no means would he be facing the camera", says a source.

This can be evidenced from the fact that whether it is ROCK ON, LUCK BY CHANCE, KARTHIK CALLING KARTHIK or ZINDAGI NA MILEGI DOBARA, there has been some other director at the helm of affairs even though he has produced each of these films. On the other hand for DON 2 too he hired Kunal Kapoor to play the second lead even though he could have comfortably fitted into that part. The trend is now expected to continue with BHAAG MILKHA BHAAG (where he is playing the central protagonist) as well as his next directorial venture.

Says Farhan, "I find directing as well as acting in the same film to be entirely opposite of each other as you function in a certain way. I don't think I am ready for that."

Does this mean that he has closed all such options for future as well? Laughs Farhan, "Well, I am young and hopefully won't be dying tomorrow. Guess my future would be reasonably longer so as the saying goes, never say never."

Well Farhan, we would wait for that day when you call the shots for yourself.
