Vidya turns 33, awaits an 'awards winning' season
Monday, 2 January 2012
She worked hard right through 2011 and now that she is done celebrating her 33rd birthday yesterday, it is time to reap benefits. If last year started off quite well forVidya with NO ONE KILLED JESSICA winning her accolades, the ending was much more than just a cherry on the cake with her THE DIRTY PICTURE not just winning her immense appreciation but also scoring tremendously at the box office. Even as she has taken a mini break of sorts before kick-starting the promotion of her next film KAHAANI, Vidya is now pretty much a hot candidate for all the major awards coming this way as the awards season beckons.

"Well, let's see how the awards season goes but most importantly I am ecstatic with all the compliments that have come my way even though the film's release was a month ago," says Vidya who is on a mini-break of sorts as she brought the New Year and her birthday.
Wide spread acknowledgment coming her way can be pretty much evidenced from the fact that at last count, THE DIRTY PICTURE had already collected over 75 crores at just the Indian box office and was still counting. While the film is most easily one of the biggest successes of 2011, what also makes it special (and hence a solid reason for being considered for all the awards waiting to be announced) is the fact that it is the first woman centric film to do such huge business.
"It was first termed as a hit, then superhit and now it is being called as a blockbuster after a month. Tell me, when there is so much happening around you and the film only grows with every passing week, where is the time to relax and think," asks Vidya.
Well lady, just hold on to that energy for a while because a lot more of that would be the need of the hour when you walk up the stage and start collecting your awards in weeks to come.
