Sanjay Dutt out, John Abraham in:
Well, tinsel town hunk John Abraham has also got into Bollywood’s replacement game. The macho actor has replaced Sanjay Dutt in Sanjay Gupta’s forthcoming project.
Sanjay Gupta was suitably impressed with John when he worked in his action thriller ‘Zinda’. He then decided to pencil in the actor in his next movie ‘Shootout At Wadala’. And now the two have decided to co- produce films under Sanjay’s banner ‘White Feather Films’. A source informed, ‘John and Gupta have been spending a lot of time in each other’s company and ever since, they have been chalking out plans for their future professional endeavors together. In fact, when Ekta was keen to sign Saif for the role of Manya Surve, Gupta was insistent to cast John instead.
After filming for Shootout At Wadala, John and Gupta will sign a co-production deal. Following which, they are slated to work on their first co-produced film, tentatively titled Khotey Sikkay, in which John will also act.”
Earlier Sanjay Gupta was very close to Sanjay Dutt, they both used to make films together under their production house ‘White Feather Films’ but later their friendship fizzled and Dutt had stop working with Gupta. He even left their banner in 2007.
Now, some industry insiders are of the opinion that Gupta has found Sanjay Dutt’s replacement in John Abraham and will be making movies with the actor from now on. “Although Dutt and Gupta had a bitter parting, one thing is clear that they were a magical pair on-screen. Their company made some good films and no one has ever presented Dutt the way Gupta has.
While Dutt moved on to star in some mindless comedies, Gupta himself did not make any film for five years. However, he is now back with a vengeance. John has now become like a family member. He is often seen at Gupta’s bungalow Woodstock, in Versova.”
When contacted, Gupta said, “It’s not about replacing anyone. It is about moving on. I have a fantastic equation with John and his personality and presence is perfectly suited for the kind of films I make at White Feather. We’ve begun work on Shootout At Wadala. We’ve also locked another script, which is a huge action franchise that we intend to start immediately post Shootout. John has no agendas and what you see is what you get and that is what I respect and love about him.”
